“Family dining with decor”

This appears to be a well-known establishment. We found the restaurant menu to be interesting - i.e. the "Duck stir-fry" used no duck in the preparation - it was just wheat and flavorings. My maple balsamic beef tips were very nice as was the salmon with the raspberry dressing. All member of our party liked their meals. Now as for the salad bar. I have seen better and much worse. In short, unlike other reviewers, I did not find it special in any regard. We added it to our meals and did end up with carrot cake free for dessert. The décor is interesting, although some might say busy. (I would not want the cleaning contract for this place.) Older folks will likely find many items (skis, fishing rods, oars, etc.) from their youth. The service was beyond excellent.

“50Th anniversary trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

We had dinner at this restaurant 25 years ago and it was just as good as it was back then. It has a great lounge, a wonderful salad bar, and fantastic food. We live in the midwest where you can always find a good steak, but I thought I would try their filet anyway just to see how it was in Vermont. I must say it was one of the best filets I have ever had.

“outstanding NE clam chowder”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

We had the clam chowder and the extensive salad bar and this was quite enough for dinner. Such an interesting décor will keep you busy for hours. Patrick, one of the owners, is very friendly and easy to talk to.

Always a pleasure to dine at Fire & Ice. They have the best salad bar in town and the chowder is delicious!
