During our recent college tour over spring break to Middlebury, we stayed here at the Middlebury Inn. We loved everything about our stay at the Middlebury Inn. It's located right in the center of town, within walking distance to the college, the downtown restaurants, a co-op grocery store... The main building definitely feels like you're staying at a historic New England Inn. If you're looking for a modern, newly built hotel, the Middlebury Inn is not your type of place. Our room was on the second floor of the main building. In the afternoon, they offered complementary coffee, ice tea, apple cider and tasty cookies and scones. Although our room was smallish, it was clean, comfortable and everything worked. The decor and furnishings are classic. It's definitely a place we'd stay again if we visit Middlebury again.

We hope your son or daughter decide to return to Middlebury College so we can get to know you better. If you stay here frequently you'll see many different styles and sizes of guestrooms and they're all classic New England. Middlebury, as well, is a great town to visit or spend four years in, while attending college. We hope to see you back. Thank you for taking the time to comment on Trip Advisor.

It is 22 years since i first stayed here and other than the Mexican in Middlebury is now a very good thai it has not changed that much. The inn gave us a complementary room upgrade as it was not that busy. the kids appreciated the free scones and cookies provided as afternoon tea. After dinner the girls were still hungry, especially the little one who had not eaten much in the thai so they inn made her some cheese and ciabatta and chocolate cake which she enjoyed. i had a lovely liquid sunshine cocktail with limoncello in it. Staff were friendly. the only thing i could not work out was the bath part of the shower which i had to spray to the side to fill. Be back in less time i hope.
Breakfast was huge.

Thank you for returning and staying with us. We are lucky in Middlebury to have a great Thai restaurant (and I didn't know it used to be Mexican). Our Morgan's Tavern is a good alternative even if it is just for our 'huge' breakfast buffet. Please don't take as long to return and thank you for your nice comments.

we stayed for one night while looking at the college with our son. the staff was firiendly and helpful, so no complaints in that regard, but i'm being kind by saying that the inn has seen better days. the decor is typically new england, but super old-fashioned (lace runners, plastic flower arrangements, random black and white portraits). the furniture is old and shabby, the floorboards saggy and creaky, the stairs steep and the elevator operated only by request. bathrooms are tidy but water pressure is weak and fan is loud. we had a perfectly decent night but made more than one joke about the inn being haunted. that said, i'm not sure where else there is to stay in middlebury!

Room Tip: we had a corner king room at the front of the hotel on the third floor which had good views, light and windows. our son's room faced an interior wall and was decidedly more depressing.

I'm not sure where to start with this one...Old and Shabby, Creaky, Saggy.. doesn't sound very inviting. But except for the decor you seemed pretty happy. I will admit that some of the older touches like the doilies and silk (not plastic) arrangements are not to everyone's taste. And your comments are telling me I should take a fresh look, which I will. Our goal is a clean and comfortable stay with exceptional customer service. I hope we accomplished most of that. Thank you, however, for your thoughtful comments.

This was the most lovely stay and beautiful room. It was well furnished beds were comfortable and people were very nice. The breakfast there was very good highly recommend it. My one drawback the shower refused to heat up and it was on fully Hot I am not one that likes a hot shower but warm is good. Maybe it was just my room 117 but it wouldn't get warm.

Room 117 is one of our most beautiful rooms and you're correct - there was a problem with the shower diverter which controls the water temperature. Our Middlebury hard water is the culprit, but thanks for letting us know and we appreciate the nice comments otherwise.

The Middlebury Inn is a beautiful property. We stayed in late March. This Inn does customer service very well. The staff are pleasant and helpful. We stayed on the second floor and our room was lovely. This is not a sleek and modern hotel, but it has such old world charm and grace that it takes you back to an era when the term customer service meant something. We ate at the restaurant on the property and the meal and service were again outstanding.
I highly recommend the Middlebury Inn and will stay again when I am back in the area

We love the word 'charm' and make it our goal to charm all of our guests. It's not easy to describe the charm of the Middlebury Inn to someone who's never been here, but you did a nice job. We offer a very different experience from our competitors and most everyone loves it. And thank you for the rave review of our restaurant, Morgan's Tavern.
