From wherever you come or to wherever you're bound, make a stop at Rainbow Sweets. A decade ago, my friend had the best gnocchis ever. Since those are no longer served, one must make do with, for example, a fabulous empanada accompanied by a just right salad. The pastries and cakes stare at you while you eat and in fact command you to have one. Do. In a setting conducive to conversation, you might strike up one with a writer or artist.

We stumbled upon Rainbow Sweets while on a long road trip and planned our return trip to get there before closing (we didn't but were still wined and dined like Kings, thanks, Bill!). The savory dishes were over the top, sided with a salad laced with feta, several kinds of olives, perfectly ripened tomatoes and red onion. But, as Bill says, that's just the appetizer. The main courses lie primarily in the dessert case; from baklava to tortes to tarts and Napoleons, they are the super star here. You'll think you've been transported to France. To accompany all of this there is an unreal collection of spirits, and then there's Bill, a unique and engaging host with terrific knowledge of well, just about everything it seems, but especially about the food and drink he sells (and a very witty sense of humor). You can't go wrong!

If I lived closer to Rainbow Sweets, I'd need bypass surgery every year. Their sandwiches achieve the wonderful flavors I learned to expect from Parisian-style bistros in Montreal and the patisserie's confections are just as good. Rainbow Sweets definitely deserves a detour, wherever you're going!

Being a Caboteer and having the opportunity to visit Vermont it was suggested through their marketing division that Rainbow Sweets is the place to eat. The food was wonderful. The Pastries DIVINE. The owner wonderful. Limited menu but I promise you will walk away in HEAVEN

Top of the line imaginative bakery, French-inspired fantastic desserts; sometimes home baked bread, pizza and other entrees on weekends. Stop by for a lunch-w-sweets - and do it before 3 pm unless it is a Friday or Saturday.
