This place was great! Firepit, screened in gazebo, babbling brook, bench swing. Owners were friendly and attentive! Rooms were spacious and comfortable. We were there for a wedding in early sept and all the other wedding guests had a great experience with this place.

The Barnstead Inn in Manchester has it all. Neil and Cynthia are available as their sign says "from when they get up until when they go to bed". The room was decorated so beautifully and was totally comfortable. We felt like we were at a home away from home immediately. We loved the BYOB bar/gathering room that was available to guests. The grounds were meticulously kept and the screened in gazebo was the perfect place to read or just relax. We were so happy with our stay that we immediately rebooked for a winter snowshoe trip in February. We can't wait to visit the Barnstead again. This is the way to enjoy Vermont.

We have found "our place" in Vermont. The Barnstead Inn is warm & inviting. The rooms are decorated as you would expect in a Vermont Inn and you also enjoy modern conveniences like great bathrooms and WIFI. Sit outside, relax and enjoy the grounds. Also close enough to town. This was our second visit and another all around great experience.

Room Tip: I think any of the rooms would be great. We stayed in two different ones and each has it's own...

Our stay at the Barnstead was such a delight. We were there for a wedding and found such a wonderful retreat staying there. It was a beautiful area and the grounds were so comforting. When we needed a cork screw to open wine the owners were there to get us one. The pool was great to have after a day of hiking and shopping.

We can't wait to have a chance to visit the Manchester area and the Barnstead Inn again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room with a private entrance in the front . The Inn has names for the rooms but we ca...

Staying at the Barnstead Inn with Neil and Cindy as the innkeepers is a perfect way to relax in Manchester, VT. Upon my first visit there last summer, my friend and I were greeted by Neil calling us by our first names. We had such a lovely stay there last year, that I recommended the inn to a friend of mine who was being married in Manchester in September of 2011. The bridge and groom could not have been any happier with their dealings with Neil and listed the inn on their website as a recommended hotel for the wedding. They found Neil warm, friendly and very accommodating. When it came time for me to make my wedding weekend reservations for my family, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going back to the Barnstead Inn. I made my reservations months ago, made a few last minute changes, and was accommodated each and every time. Neil's response time on the internet is amazingly fast.
Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, very clean and complete with a flat screen TV and wireless internet. We were able to relax and enjoy the grounds while sitting at the patio table located just outside of our room. There isn't any need to take your car into town, as it is just a short walk into the center of town.
I highly recommend this charming inn and can't wait to go back again!

If you're looking for a beautiful well run Inn in the Manchester area then the Barnstead is not to be missed. Neil (owner) was a gracious and accommodating host who went out of his way to make sure that everything about our stay was taken care of. The grounds are expansive with many places to sit and read or bring in lunch to one of the picnic tables. It was a bit chilly so we didn't use the pool but it looked well maintained. The Inn is a (very) short walk to some of Manchester's finest shopping and dining options. There is a very cute breakfast place just 7 minute walk from the Inn which we brought back and ate at the picnic tables each morning. At the same time the Inn is far enough from the hustle and bustle of town to feel quiet and secluded. We stayed in the Green River room which was wonderful. Spacious room with a HUGE bed and a fireplace. It is at one end of the building so even though the Inn was packed and there was a group of friends hanging out by the fire pit late night I didn't hear a thing when I went to bed! Do not miss this lovely and charming Inn!

Room Tip: The Green River room: large room, huge bed, very quiet, with a fireplace!
