We like to try different restaurants and dishes, particularly while on our annual travel (motorcycle) holiday. This year, we opted for Ye Olde Tavern based on the menu and TA/Yelp reviews.

The building was quaint and interesting. We were seated in a cozy and private alcove, which was very nice. Our server was excellent. She was personable and engaging and provided great information on the dishes. I was particularly grateful for her keen eye when I ordered a side that contained gluten. She also brought over gluten-free cranberry muffins as a substitute to the fritters. Muffins were good and really made the maple butter shine. (Recently and reluctantly converted to the gluten-free life, I still sometimes miss gluten in certain dishes and really appreciated Michelle checking with the chef and suggesting an alternative.) The more adventurous of our party raved about the venison sausage and with even a little bite, I could see why.

Ye Old Tavern definitely falls on the list of exceptional places to revisit. And we are going to try to order maple butter for delivery.

"Wonderful Food & Excellent Service", says it all, thanks! I am thrilled you followed the advice of our Tripadvisor and Yelp guests and dined with us on your annual motorcycle holiday. Our goal is to create a lasting, memorable dining experience for all of our guests and if that means catering to a Gluten Free diet, iti is not a problem. I will share your comments with Michelle which I am sure she will appreciate. We thank you for taking the time to write your review and look forward to having you dine with us again in the near future. Michael

My wife and I were just driving around Manchester Village on a recent vacation in VT. We accidentally found Ye Olde Tavern and decided to give it a try. What a fabulous meal! This tavern dates back to 1790 and the wait staff wears traditional dress. You would think it would be a tourist trap but it's not... the food is traditional Inn food with some nice twists like their lobster mac n chees with bacon. Their own ale is wonderful and it's a great atmosphere. This isn't for the vegan crowd or the folks that want to be seen eating out on the sidewalk. It's for those who want some serious food in a warm and friendly atmosphere

Good food in a building from the 1700's. They will do both New England classics as well as ambitious specials, and the venison is very good. The dining rooms may be a bit loud at times, but it is a very old building that was not built with sound deafening. If you are in Manchester, this is a good step up from the basic restaurants into the better places in Manchester.

We decided last minute to have my mom's birthday dinner here. There were 14 of us, of which 6 were kids. They were able to get us in last minute which was great and very much appreciated. We had our own semi-private room which was nice. Our server was one of the best I have seen around. He was very informative and a great level of professionalism. He saw that we had so many kids and their kids menu is somewhat limited but he informed us that there were entrees that they could do as kid portions also. He was always there when we needed him, but he was not hovering. Our food came out perfectly timed. They brought out cranberry fritters for us while we waited for our salads. They are served with maple butter which tasted like maple syrup and went very well with the fritters. Since it was Friday night they had a venison special they only do on Friday's. Two of us got that, and we both enjoyed it a lot. Our only comment would be to drizzle a little sauce on the venison to go with the different ways you can order it. Some of the kids even tried it. A lot of us shared our food so we could sample the different entrees. The sea scollops were out of this world! Cooked perfectly and had just the right seasonings on them. I did not get a chance to try the pot roast but my sister said it was amazing and she had the same type of beer that they used in the pot roast and said the pairing was perfect.
The overall restaurant is in an older building. There is a lot of presidential items hanging on the walls, well at least in the room we were in. Overall my entire family was very happy with the food and the service here. If we can ever make it back I would look for our server again and wait so we could be seated with him. Service is a very big thing with us, when we find great service we love to praise it and return for more, not too mention the wonderful food!

Wow, I am speechless... all I can say is THANK YOU!. Your waiters name was Jeremy and he has been a valued member of our team for 5 years. I certainly will pass on your kind words and that your advertising for guests to ask for him. I am happy you also enjoyed the food and atmosphere and will pass on to the cooks your suggestion for the venison. Once again Wow and thank you for this great review and dining with us. I look forward to having you dine with us again. Michael

Food was wonderful and service awful. I would go back again, however, and hope for better service. Best lobster bisque I ever had. Pot roast, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans and carrots very good. Garden salad could have used a bit more dressing.
