My wife and I dined at Ye Olde Tavern while visiting Manchester, based on the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed with this historic old tavern from 1790. We were greeted by the owner, who asked us how cool we would like to be (it was in the 90's outside), as he had a number of rooms which ranged from mild to very cool. Once seated, we were greeted by our server, who provided us with a wealth of information on the cuisine and nightly specials. My wife was pleasantly surprised to find steamed lobster as a special, so her search was over! We started with shrimp cocktail and the venison sausage in raspberry sauce, both excellent. I had broiled scallops and my wife had the lobster, both presented and done to perfection. The side dishes were also done to perfection. My wife got an emergence phone call during diner which she had to take, and the owner came over and took her food back to the kitchen to keep it warm, a very nice gesture. Dessert was ice cream from a local creamery, also excellent. Whenever we are in Manchester, this is our place to dine, exceptional food, atmosphere and service!
