My boyfriend and I visited The Perfect Wife on a Saturday night during Labor Day weekend. We ate upstairs at the tavern part of the restaurant. We entered the building and stood in the entrance way for about a minute before I went to find someone to ask them if we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. I received a very akward mumbled answer and a wave of the hand that said "follow me". The tavern was only about 1/4 full of customers.
We were sat at a booth and the waitress came over about 5 minutes later. She was friendly and asked us for our drink orders. She returned about 5 minutes later with our drinks.
We ordered the nachos as an appetizer. My boyfriend ordered the "Sloppy Jane" which is a flatbread stuffed with chicken, cheese, and turkey chili. It was served with fries on the side. I ordered a chipotle caesar salad with a crab cake.
The nachos were served with very basic chips that looked like they came from a bag with a ton of cheese. The cheese was layered, but any cheese that was not on top was not melted. There was about 1/4 cup of chili on the nachos and they were served with very small sides of guacamole, salsa, and sour cream. Mediocre.
The Sloppy Jane was probably the best thing we ordered, but not as inventive as it sounded. The fries were delicious.
My salad was just okay. It was the size of a side salad with one small crab cake for $11.95. The crab cake meat was good, but it was not very flavorful. It was lightly seared on either side and again, not very inventive.
The waitress came back once to check on us after we were basically done with our meal. She was very friendly, but not at all attentive which is surprising since the restaurant was barely occupied. Though the prices were reasonable for going to a restaurant, they seemed high for the quantity and quality of the food offered.
This was less than a mediocre experience to say the least. We both left unsatisfied and greatly disappointed.
