Description: Amy's creative approach to combining ingredients results in an intriguing and delicious menu. Enjoy a memorable fine dining experience while relaxing in our rustic cobblestone walled restaurant and greenhouse garden room. Our broad wine list and extensive selection of spirits will provide just the right accompaniment for your meal. And as a reward for eating all your veggies, you should treat yourself to a delicious homemade dessert. Afterwards, feel free to stop in at our spirited local tavern for an after dinner drink or a game of darts, with live music in the tavern on most Friday evenings.

We went to the Tavern because there wasn't anything we liked on the restaurant menu. The waitress was good, but the potatoes were instant and the salad wasn't anything special.... a little overpriced, but not terrible and we didn't walk away hungry.

“Best Place in Vermont”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

If anyone had a less-than-stellar time or experience here, he or she didn't mention their troubles to the staff. One of the amazing things about this restaurant, tavern, and live music spot is that Chef Amy truly wants people to be happy about being there. If ever you are unsatisfied, she'll make it right. She is a savvy and caring perfectionist that shows with every nuance, every meal, every band she puts out there for the public to enjoy. The diningroom has the most delicious food ever and the tavern's menu is equally creative while satisfying the slimmer wallet. The bar scene is awesome, and you can be sure that your food and music is as home-grown and organic as possible.

“Dissappointing and less than ordinary”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2014

The restaurant sponsors Public Radio and so I wanted to support it! Plus, it boasts of new fusion cuisine and local sourcing.

The menu was sparse. I ordered crabcakes and my partner ordered the steak. The crabcakes were absolutely terrible. Have gotten better ones at a grocery store! My partner says the steak was fit for a dog. All entrees come with veggies but no salad. You don't get to choose the veggies. We got identical veggies that were so poorly cooked -- neither sauteed nor steamed, rawer than al dente and with no seasonings.

There was only one entree that was gluten free, dairy and animal free (covering all bases with one uninspired choice).

When you are paying the price, you want the food. Only in insipid Vermont would the "Perfect Wife" be even considered "okay," let alone "good."

Finally, it was noisy and had that dreaded chain restaurant atmosphere.

“Been here twice, not bad...but...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

We went here in the Summer of 2013...food was fine...but we did see a couple ants (not the small ones, but large, black ants). May have been a one-time thing but it was strange to see this in a quality restaurant...indoors.

Went there again recently. Server was a nice person but getting food to our table was very slow. When we got it, everything on the plate was luke-warm at best. The quality was good, the portions very good, atmosphere nice (the elec. piano player did a great job) and the price was OK.

Lastly, the wine and the mixed drinks are extremely high priced here. Not just at dinner, but in the bar area too. $22 for house red wine and a simple, mixed drink that would have cost $13 or $14 anywhere else (outside Manhattan or Boston). The value in their meals is there but they definitely make their money (and then some) on their drinks.
