“a rickety honest breakfast”
Reviewed January 31, 2009

For a solid breakfast, this is a great place to know about, covering the usual choices from bacon and eggs to pancakes with real Vermont maple syrup. I cannot recommend it for winter, however, if only because the windows leak frigid air during the entire breakfast, making you want to wear your coat. It's a homespun Vermont experience, however, and several food steps above a regular greasy spoon.

“Hits the spot for breakfast!”
Reviewed July 17, 2008

Our family of 6 happened upon this tiny breakfast spot while in Manchester recently. It's easy to miss as it's located above other shops and you have to find the stairway that leads to it. Once up there, you find a small but cozy restaurant serving delicious breakfast items. Frankly, I'm puzzled by the "so-so" reviews because we ate at this restaurant several times this week and had a great meal each time!

The wait staff was friendly and even recognized us our 2nd time in, which made us feel very welcome. Our favorites were:
1. buttermilk pancakes - so light and fluffy!
2. French toast - best ever!
3. maple sausage links
4. Vermont maple syrup
5. raspberry preserves - make sure to try them!
6. unique dishes like the Lingonberry Cream Cheese French Toast or Peach Granola Pancakes

One tip: they're busy on the weekends, so go early or bring the paper to read while you wait for a table. But it's well worth the wait!

“Enjoyable Breakfast”
Reviewed October 12, 2007

We went here for breakfast after a wonderful meat at Mulligan's Restaurant the night before. Up for Breakfast was very cute and very uncomforably warm. The staff was not courteous, but the order was correct when it was brought to our table. Our coffee cups did get wanting a few times, but they were very busy at the time. Our food was good, and well prepared.

“Definately Going Down NOT UP”
Reviewed October 11, 2007

In prior years, this was a wonderful place with good food and cheery waitstaff. Not so for either this year. Don't waste your time unless you like watery coffee, bread like toast and overcooked eggs topped off with cranky staff. Instead try the bagel and coffee shop, The Works, around the corner - this place even has outdoor seating overlooking a stream.
