“Garden symposium”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

The Equinox was a very pleasant get away and great garden symposium. Weather was cold and having the enjoyable surrounds of the Inn it made the weekend relaxing and enjoyable. The food and accomidations for the symposium was excellant. Great detail to every last detail. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pitt and the indoor fireplace to enjoy a glass of wine and relax. Truely and enjoyable weekend.

My husband and i went to the Equinox in late february for our first anniversary getaway. There was still snow on the ground and it looked beautiful. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the hotels restaurant and outside they had the fire pit lit. We stayed in the townhouses and it was nice. Lots of space and very clean. The service was good and i would recommend it.
While we were there we did a little shopping and discovered the British School of Falconry just down the road. We were blown away with how amazing the creatures are and handling them was a thrill. We would love to go back in the summer and do it again on a walk in the woods.

We Bought a groupon which was very miss leading on both groupon and the hotels part.
What we purchased was for the town-houses which are not a part of the resort really just on the same property and it was for the smallest town house so I upgraded for a small fee to a bit bigger and after reading the reviews on the town houses I was worried and rightfully so the reviews were correct they are out-dated even though they were supposedly updated may of 2012. I did not like the feel at all after being in the main inn to check in two totally different experiences.

So we thought we will suck it up and enjoy our time because the rest of the resort seems so pretty. I went to unpack and thought I am just going to pull the spread back a habit of mine wherever I am staying and lets just say it was awful and we were not un-packing.

I called the guest services and they were very nice and switched us to the main inn to a wonderful large room it was number 226 close to the stairway and a short walk out to the outdoor fire pit and spa. What a difference. We ate at the Marsh Tavern our first night the food was good but our favorite was the silver fork see my review and dont miss it!!
We also ate at the works a bagel place up for breakfast and zoeys deli and they were all great.

Would I go back to stay here maybe but I would go back to eat at the Silver Fork thats for sure

Room Tip: Room 226 in the Main Inn great room!

We went to the Equinox in Jan for a meeting. Arriving in the late afternoon we were tired and hungry.after a nice welcome from the door man and front desk staff we we shown to our room. A nice ,modern room in an old hotel , a nice mix. We had heard of several area restaurants and were anxious to try them, but not so ready to get back in the car and drive , dark and cold. The front desk arranged for the house staff to drive us and pick is up in a warm large suburban. HAving this great service allowed me to feel comfortable. Having a beer.... No driving. Needles to say we took advantage of this service for the next 3 nights. (1 night we ate at the hotel)
My wife thought the rooms could have been a little more in keeping with the remainder of the buildings.
Hotel and location great skiing trails, shops outlets and history. Cost a little steep for midweek. I will return.

Room Tip: Rooms can be noises if kids in halls stay away from stairs

If you're expecting a luxury room, don't stay in the "townhouses." The website is deceiving and doesn't tell you that these rooms are not part of the Starwood section of the hotel, nor does it tell you that you cannot expect to find kitchens and fireplaces, etc. in all of these units. Our room didn't even have a table, bureau, couch or fridge. It appeared the bathroom was last renovated in the late eighties. Thought the website claims these units are "'South Beach' meets Vermont country chic," it's more accurate to describe them as "basement of a ski condo meets refurbished Motel Six." Not worth the $440/night rate, even on a holiday weekend.

That said, when we explained our dissatisfaction to the general manager, he was very understanding and he and his staff went out of their way to try to make it up to us - complimentary breakfast, facials, and we didn't pay for the one night we stayed there. They claimed they couldn't find us a better room, however, so we left and had a far better experience at the nearby Dorset Inn for half the price.

Hello and thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the Townhouses at the Inns at the Equinox. I am truly sorry that you were not satisfied with your experience. It is our goal to clearly differentiate between the Inns at the Equinox, an independent property, and the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa, a Starwood Luxury Collection resort, and I am so sorry that this was not properly described for you.
I truly appreciate your feedback, as it allows us to identify areas that need our additional attention. I hope that you will consider return to Manchester and staying at the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the resort if I may be of service in any way.

Old style colonial ambiance. Very comfortable but heating ventilation was noisy and ask for room on 2nd or 3d floor to avoid draft issues. Staff extremely cordial and helpful. Free morning coffee and complimentary newspapers. Excellent valet parking. Local skiing and outlet shopping sites are first rate.

Our family and other family friends have been going to the Equinox for the New Year's Eve celebration for the past 5 years. It is a great place to enjoy family time and celebrate the holidays. There are events scheduled for the kids - a magic show, movies at night, bingo, hot chocolate and cookies at tea time every day, and a party with a DJ just for them on New Year's Eve. For the adults, there is a formal New Year's Eve party, the Spa, exercise classes, an outdoor hot tub, a big bonfire with champagne on New Year's Eve and a warm sitting area with a roaring fire. But what impresses me the most about the Equinox during this week is the generous attitude and extra effort they make to ensure this is a pleasant experience for everyone in the family.

The Hotel is old, but I believe it has incredible character and that the rooms and public areas have been kept up very well. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. And the staff is always available to help address any needs if you have them. The pool, spa and exercise areas are never crowded and they are kept impeccably. In addition, the hotel is situated on such a pretty New England street right in front of Equinox Mountain. If you are outdoorsy, like us, this is a great plus. The kids can sled right behind the hotel (with sleds provided for free by the hotel) on an awesome hill and my husband and I can strap on our snowshoes and hike any number of trails up and around the mountain. The hotel also provides free shuttles to 2 of the ski resorts in the area.

At night, after a satisfying dinner, either in the pub or in Manchester, we all reconvene in the library for drinks and a rowdy game of cards. To our family and friends it is a beautiful winter weekend and a great way to ring in the New Year and spend it all together.
