“Great stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2014 via mobile

Our room was very nice and large with a king bed, sofa, wing back chair, desk and armoire with tv. It looked as if it had been redecorated and was very clean. We look forward to staying at the Palmer House on our trips to Manchester in the future. The winter rate was in effect so we really got our money's worth.
Dinner at the Ole Tavern was great too. We enjoyed it so much the first night that we went back the second night also.

Hello and thank you for your fine descripton of our rooms. It's always nice to have a pleasant seating arrangement in a room other than the beds. And we couldn't agree more about our neighor's at the Ye Olde Tavern. It is consistently-fine dining and if you haven't had a chance to try it yet, their Early Bird Special (you must be in the building by 6 pm) is a wonderful way to sample a lovely meal from beginning to end...yet another way to get your money's worth!
We look forward to your return.
Sincerely,
Tina Fries

We stayed in one of the suites the first weekend February. The suite was lovely. There was a comfy sitting area that had sliding doors out to the deck ( which was unfortunately covered with snow), a dining area that had a table with 4 chairs, and a small kitchenette with fridge, microwave, and sink. The bedroom had a king size bed and was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spectacular. There were double sinks, and a shower stall separate from the jacuzzi tub. It had a "cottage feel", except for the fact that it was enormous! The one and only thing missing from the bathroom was a magnifying mirror ( which I depend on for applying makeup). Our suite had a view of the pond, but again, it was snow-covered, so we hope to return for a weekend in the spring so we can truly appreciate the beautiful grounds.

Green Features: We liked that this hotel provided 2 receptacles for recycling.

Hello and thank you for your delightful review. As you described the coziness of the Suites, I felt like I was right alongside you... especially at the impact of joy at discovering the enormous & spectacular bathroom! (That is my favorite part!) I do regret the lack of magnifying mirrors which I agree would be a wonderful bonus. And you simply must come back to take in the views from the private deck overlooking that glorious pond....a wonderful place to drink in the sun and contemplate life.
We certainly look forward to your return.
Sincerely,
Tina Fries

I stayed here while skiing at Stratton. It is conveniently located near restaurants and shopping in Manchester. The room was very large and comfortable. It was very clean and seemed freshly updated and painted. I liked the separate bathroom area with a large counter and coffee maker. There is a big closet there for your ski boots, jackets, etc. My friends stayed in the room next door and we could go back and forth through a door in our rooms which they opened up especially for us. We didn't have to go outside in the freezing cold to visit or chat. The indoor pool and hot tub are great!

Hello and thank you for your nice review. Location so often seems to be the key to success but when finding a place to stay overnight, one also hopes to find a clean and well-arranged room as well. I am glad to hear you found all of that at the Palmer House. Both Stratton and Bromely are an easy drive during the day but at night it's good to have a large choice of restaurants to choose from. The shopping nearby also offers a nice alternative to the non (or tired!) skier. But I'm especially happy you mentioned not only the size of the rooms but the possibility of opening the door between to have some pleasant (and warm) interaction with family or friends.
We look forward to your return.
Sincerely,
Tina Fries

Pleasant motel. Standard room was quite spacious. Two double beds, desk, sitting area. Could close door between bedroom and front of room (for privacy while kids changing etc..). Front of room contained large counter with sink, small refrigarator, and coffee maker with seperate enclosed bathroom. Indoor pool quite large for lap pool. Hot tub nice after a long day on the slopes.

Location was convienent to Stratton and Bromley. Daughter enjoyed the outlets in Manchester.

Hello and thank you for taking time to send a review. I do apologize for the delay in responding to you. I'm glad you appreciated the layout of the rooms, as they do offer a lot of privacy in all the ways you mentioned. Our location seems to appeal to most in that you are never far from skiing, sleigh rides, skating, shopping and ofcourse all the many dining choices. We at the Palmer House thank you for being our guest and do hope you will return.

We originally had lodging reservations about 1/2 hr from Manchester which turned out to be very disappointing. So we headed into Manchester where we had intentions on spending the next day shopping. We stumbled upon this beautifully manicured and clean motel style lodging right in town. Walked in and was pleasantly greeted by Amy. After hearing our story, she immediately offered to allow us to check out three rooms, one is a suite. These rooms were a great improvement over what we had seen earlier at our other reservation.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The bathroom area is large with a large vanity. Unfortunately for us, there were no more king size beds available other than in the suite, which even after the discount that was offered was beyond what we wanted to spend. So were ended up with two doubles and made do with that. I felt that the rate was reasonable, I liked the location (blocks away from the shopping and restaurants), and I felt that the service/Amy was great!

We had a peek at one of the suites, which are newer compared to the rooms. I must say that it was almost tempting to stay in there! Big comfy king-size bed, hot tub and large bathroom, fireplace, wet bar/kitchenette?, and high ceilings. This would be the perfect place for the right "event". We didn't stay in this room because we wanted to spend our money shopping!

The timing, the place and Amy turned our trip around, and I would highly recommend The Palmer House to anyone..........and would even return and book the suite!

Hello and thank you for sharing your experience with us at the Palmer House. I am sorry your original plans were so disappointing, however..Amy to the rescue! When planning a get-away, we all hope to get the most for our money and return home refreshed. And it sounds like that happened because of a clean & comfortable bed, great service and Amy's TLC...to use your own words. I do hope the shopping experience as well as all of the above will bring you back to us soon...and for an event that you deem worthy of one of our Deluxe Suites...it's here waiting for you!
Thanks again fro sharing,
Tina Fries

My son and I stayed at the Palmer House in August 2013 while doing a 4 day bike ride in Vermont. We stayed at a few motels/hotels in the area, both my son and I agreed that the Palmer House was by far the best! The room was very clean, spacious and had a large dressing area next to the bathroom. The grounds are well manicured with a 9 hole golf course. There is also a beautiful pond on the property with rooms overlooking the pond. The group of cyclists that we were with all commented how nice the Palmer House was. It is obvious that the owners and employees take pride in the Palmer House. If you plan on a visit to the area, I would highly recommend you consider the Palmer House.

Hello and thank you for your delightful review! How nice to hear not only you but an entire group found us to their liking! I remember a bike group staying with us in August and I must return the compliment as everyone was very friendly and just happy to be here! But it's also helpful for us to hear how we are faring in comparison to other hotel stops you make along the way...so thank you and please return with the rest of your family...bikes included!
Sincerely,
Tina Fries

We stayed for 2 nights in a motel style room, king bed, nice sitting area with a full size sofa, comfy chair and table - felt like a living room! Nice table and chairs outside the room too, looking over the nicely manicured green. The grounds were beautiful with a little 9 hole golf course surrounding the buildings, hike to fishing pond..very relaxing. Bed was comfortable, bathroom nicely appointed. I did have a little troubling keeping the shower temp consistent. Room had a nice size min-fridge with a freezer compartment that was very handy. Breakfast in a common room near the office, $2.50 a head, honor system - toast, English muffins, mini bagels, cereal, juice, milk, coffee - basic but really all we needed. Walking distance to some nice dining spots, and you really could walk to the shopping areas. Office staff was very friendly and helpful. Given the location to hiking, golfing, skiing, shopping, on top of the pleasant atmosphere we will definitely return!
