“Beautiful setting”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

My husband and I stayed in the mansion for one night, so that is all I can review. I am not a bed & breakfast fan and usually prefer hotels, but the Wilburton had everything we needed. There is wifi and a flat screen TV in the room. Our room had a beautiful view and was very romantic. I thought we would hear a lot of noise since our room was very close to the stairway and the bed was close to the door, but found no problem. We did have the ceiling fan on though, so that may have helped.
The front desk was helpful and the breakfast that was included was very good. I would absolutely stay here again, but do hope the prices come down a bit. I was there during leaf peeping season, so I understand their price and didn't mind.

Room Tip: We stayed in room #4 in the mansion. The room was beautifully decorated and was nice and roomy. The...

Not worth the $250/night we paid. The pictures shown of the rooms look nothing like the room that we had. I agree with the title of one of the previous reviews: "like stepping back in time". We had room 19, a single king in one of the seperate buildings. It looked like it had not been updated in 50 years, and smelled about that age as well: musty at best, mildewy at worst. The bathroom and fixtures were old and worn and poorly laid out, the blinds were barely functional and the cheapest that money could buy at the time, and the furniture was old, stained, and worn. The pillows on the bed were disastrous: old and thin and uncomfortable. Also a lot of wasted space in the room.

Not all bad though. Our bed/mattress was very comfortable. The location and views are excellent. The grounds are nice, although the random placement of "worldly" sculptures and statues is oddly out of place. The breakfasts were excellent.

Unfortunately none of the positives outweighed the fact that we could have stayed at the Best Western for a lot less money and been no less satisfied or comfortable. Next time we will.

Room Tip: get a room in the main house

The beautiful, large main mansion, built in 1902, has plenty of ancient allure, in a sort of faded way. The sitting room is very comfortable, and feels like you're sitting in the hosts' family house. Actually: you are! This hotel is run by Dr Albert J. Levis, a psychiatrist, his wife Mrs Georgette Wasserstein, and some their children and grandchildren. Other members of the family provide food, such as vegetables and excellent bread, from their organic farm. Our dinner was excellent.

The host are very gracious, and their grandchildren were helpful and very polite during breakfast. The atmosphere is warm and fun. We stayed in room No 43, in Curry House, a large house on the Inn's property. The rooms were very quiet, and offered a fantastic view on the colorful mountains nearby. Our only reservation is that, as has been mentioned before, the furnishings in The Curry House are dated, and the plumbing in the washroom needs a few adjustments.

But the rooms were very clean, and room service was excellent.

Overall a very pleasant stay, with a feeling of traveling back to the past in this beautiful mansion!

Warm thanks to our kind hosts.

Straight out of a movie set, surrounded by mountains aflame with the colors of Fall, is the Wilburton Inn. It is a grand mansion from a bygone era, with all of the grandeur and class associated with the lifestyles of the rich and famous from the early 1900's. From the moment we entered the front door, we were treated warmly by the owners and staff. Everyone worked tirelessly, morning and night, to ensure that guests were given attention and care. Our room was beautifully furnished, the bathroom was huge and the towels the softest I ever felt. The Inn was immaculate, the grounds magnificent. It is a place to linger. I did not want to leave.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the Inn.

My sister and I stayed at The Wilburton Inn last week which was the first week of October. We stayed in the mansion and upon walking in the front door, my first thought was - this would be a wonderful place to film a mystery.. it was as if stepping back to a grander time. The mansion is filled with wonderful art work, lots of cozy spaces, and the staff is lovely and refined. It was such fun to sit in the living room and drink afternoon coffee. Our room was huge with a great view of the colorful mountains of fall. The breakfast served was delicious! Every possible breakfast option was served hot and elegantly! One thing that impressed us both was that the owners of the inn were there when we checked in, there when we went to bed, and there the next morning to make sure we enjoyed our breakfast. and enjoy it all, we did!!

Room Tip: We loved the mansion. Did not see cottages.

We came to Manchester for a wedding during Leaf Peak Week. The bride and groom, our gracious hosts booked all of our rooms so we did not chose our rooms in advance. I was told, by others in our party, that the rooms in the main building and the dog friendly cottage were lovely and had wonderful views. The food at our private family brunch on Sunday was plentiful and wonderful. The hot and cold buffet were delicious. When we got there we were put in Room 33 in an outbuilding that they called "a cottage". The building and hall carpeting were run down. The accoustics were awful. We could here our neighbors like they were in our room. The people upstairs were running up and down the steps, which also sounded like they were in our room. The view was non existant except for some very weird, very large statues. While the Inn was lovely and the hosts gracious, I highly recommend you stay away from the building that contains Room 33 in it.We certainly will.

Room Tip: The room was clean, the hallway carpeting, cottage, was old and filthy.... a very poor introduction...

The breakfast was wonderful and the inn keepers were very nice, but the room was not worth the money. We arrived at dark (and it was very dark) and the outside light to our room was broken so we had to find a flashlight to navigate our way down the large steps leading to the room. Once in the room, the toilet was loose, the bathtub didn't drain, and half of the bathroom lights were out. When we returned from sightseeing the next day, we came back to find that there had been no cleaning service. We had to walk up to the inn, at dark, for fresh towels and garbage bags. We were staying in one of the carriage houses, so maybe our experience would have been different had we been staying in the main inn. (the inn was beautiful) The town of Manchester was wonderful!

I have to take responsibility for this guest's. review When the family checked in, I upgraded them to a larger lodging situation which I thought would be more comfortable for them. I did not inform housekeeping that I had made the change. The room was not properly prepared or serviced. My intentions were right, but they backfired. I am sincerely sorry that these guests did not have an A+ experience. They are a very nice family. Georgette
