I stayed at the Equinox from January 6-8 with my mother and sister for a spa getaway. From the moment we pulled up to the hotel, the service was impeccable. The valet staff was incredibly polite and accommodating. Big thanks to Jeremiah who not only took care of our car and luggage, but also chauffeured us around town when it was time to hit the martini bar. He was polite and made for delightful company on our rides back and forth to the hotel.

The Falcon Bar was fantastic - another thanks to the bartender, I think his name is Russ, though I can't be sure thanks to the delicious cocktails he served up. The rest of the bar and restaurant staff were also extremely delightful, especially Jon who delivered homemade ice cream directly to our room, bedside.

Now onto the not so great. If I could have given The Equinox a 4.5, I would have. but the staff was so wonderful that I decided to go with a 5. The first floor of the hotel was pretty cold. We found it to be chilly even next to the large fireplaces. The same was true in the spa. While the services were wonderful, I do wish it would have been a bit cozier in the lounge. However, considering this was an extremely old building, despite renovations, one must expect some draftiness.

Lastly, as some of you may note, sleep quality rated low for our visit. When it came to peaceful slumbering, The Equinox was lacking. This was not because the beds were uncomfortable, but because of the ghost that clearly lives above room 330. It sounded like someone was bouncing a ball directly above us at random times throughout the night. It was very disconcerting.

So, to conclude, great staff! As for the spirits, specters, ghouls and ghosts, well.....that may not appeal to everyone.

Only came to stay for a night (Saturday-Sunday) with a few friends. Our main goal was to relax and take advantage of the spa. Upon arrival the guy at the front desk was great. We found our room pretty quickly, got changed and headed to the pool/spa building. The facility was beautiful and we used the steam room and sauna. Down side was that they ran out of robes and we had to wait for them to launder some for us. When we were done we went out to the pool area, but we didn't last but 5 minutes there. I guess this place is really popular with families and the screaming children were not conducive to our plan of relaxation.
We had booked spa services for the next day (remember to book in advance at this place!) and had to checkout before we headed back down there. The front desk was great, they let us get our car from the valet, load up our stuff and re-valet. We proceeded to the spa again and checked in for our massages. The young girl at the front desk was unfriendly and had a bit of an attitude, but that was forgotten after our massages. I cannot speak for anyone else in my party but my massage was one of the best I've ever had. Afterwards we ventured into the pool and hot tub area to happily find both empty.
Once we were all set to leave we ran into the unfriendly front desk girl again while checking out. She somehow confused something in the computer system and kept asking all of us what we had done (all three of us had the same 50 minute massage, no bells or whistles) it took about 20 minutes for us to straighten things out, pay and get out of there. All the while with this girl giving us the attitude. Also, please make a note if you are booking anything at the spa, they add gratuity to your services. We were not aware of this and had got cash out of the ATM machine which obviously charged us a fee.
Overall, these little negatives were not enough to spoil our moods but they will definitely be remembered.

Front Desk, valet, concierge, bell captains, maître 'ds...they made our stay memorable and fun. We ate at all 3 restaurants and were amazed at not only how good, but also how consistent was the quality of the food across all meals. For a "Luxury Collection" hotel, we came with certain expectations, so were a bit disappointed to find no minibar or coffee maker in the room (although the front desk promptly provided a mini refrigerator to our room when we requested!), sparse amenities and weak housekeeping when toiletries and towels were not always replaced. While food was great, waiters at dinner can be very tardy and waitresses at breakfasts were all not nearly as pleasant as the rest of the hotel staff. Our room, on the 4th floor, was spacious and comfortable with a great view, and the bed was super. When possible, may be time to do a bit of upgrading as the room is starting to age: carpet, paint, bathroom (e.g., caulking and fix shower door), again, just to keep up with the "Luxury Collection" standard. Also, since this is such a great family resort, try to do a bit more to the "Game Room" other than just video games (a ping pong table?) One final, MOST IMPORTANT recommendation: maintain a strict code of conduct on keeping noise down between hours of 11pm. to 8am. Since the walls are thin, children screaming and parents yelling between those hours are devastating to R&R for another family's vacation! Conclusion: will definitely return and highly recommend others to stay at this fine resort.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are quieter given the thin floors.

This is our second year in a row staying at the Equinox over the kids' December break. We spent three nights and had a great time. The resort has three restaurant choices & the food was good. My husband and son particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The hotel is close to shopping in Manchester & the kids skied at nearby Bromley mountain. The hotel is family and pet friendly with lots of families staying during the holidays. Plan on returning annually.

My wife and I stayed for a short week over the summer of 2013. There were a lot of activities to keep us busy and the restaurant was very good.

The drive from NYC was not bad and we will certainly return again.

For this trip we were able to participate in the Falconry, the Land Rover driving school as well as some hiking and drinking. We hope to enjoy some skeet shooting and horseback riding when we return.

This is our first time to the Equinox on a break between Xmas and New Years. Very quaint and true New England feel. If you love old hotels like we do you will enjoy your stay. The rooms are comfortable but don't expect the opulence of other Luxury Collection hotels. Halls can be drafty and a bit run down but the roaring fireplace is a nice place to hang out after a day in the snow. Staff is very accommodating and eager to help you get the best experience of the area. Manchester is a great little town with wonderful restaurants but advised to make reservations in advance as most of them are small and require reservations.

The boys at the front of the hotel took very good care of us. Gave us lots of tips from a local point of view. Very much appreciated the personal touch!

On the downside, don't waste money eating at the hotel. We had breakfast included so that was fine but for other meals area restaurants are a much better deal. Area skiing is a plus if you want to use the hotel as a hub for your holiday.

On the downside, lots of small children the week that we were there. Very noisy in the hallways. Wish the outside fireplace was going but overall a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Request a room in the main hotel. We've heard the rooms at the townhouses were nothing special f...

Four generations of my family has made The Equinox our yearly destination for our Christmas vacation. We are used to THE BEST. However there was a major breakdown this year.
No heat? The hotel felt like a drafty old barn. We sat shivering through our Christmas dinner at the Colonnade and found the service pretty darn bad. The wrong wine came to our table. No one was around to refill (my brother had to go around and refill 13 glasses during the meal) and we had to chase down our server to get coffee. At those prices this should not be. The worst part is we cannot sleep unless we turn the heat off. Otherwise the unit clangs and bangs, turns on then off. We were so tired when we checked out this morning from lack of sleep. This is not an isolated incident. We have been complaining for the past two years that the noise level from these units are unacceptable. It seems to be a Starwood issue in general as we have encountered the same problem at other properties we have visited all over the world over the past few years. (many complaints online as well) Is Starwood wanting us to get up and turn off the units in the middle of the night to save money? I wonder. Cheap is expensive folks.

Good afternoon and thank you for your comments. I am so sorry to hear about the temperature during our Christmas dinner, and loud heating unit in your room. I cannot speak on behalf of other properties in the Starwood system, but would be interested if you could provide me with details on the room you stay in so we can have our engineer remedy. I am thrilled you make our Resort a tradition every year, appreciate your comments to make us better, and look forward to your next visit!
