“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

We spent just one night at The Equinox for my husband's 50th birthday but had a wonderfully relaxing stay. From the friendly bellboy to the funny maintenance man, we can not say enough about the professional staff that runs this gem in Southern Vermont. Kudos to the waitstaff, too!

To be part of this historical site was truly awesome. Hearing a man complain about the uneven floor in his room (the building is 200 years old!) made us believe he truly missed one of the best characteristics of the Equinox. The grounds, the spa, and the common area rooms are beautiful and inviting.

We are Starwood members so the rate was perfect, and were then treated to an upgrade upon arrival. So appreciative of the front desk for going that little extra mile as well as extending us late check out beyond the normal hotel time.

Treat yourself to the Equinox and you won't regret it

We are both Starwood gold members, travel starwood about 25x a year collectively and received an email prior to our stay saying we would not be upgraded. A few back and forths yielded no reply to request. When we arrived, our room had slit windows looking onto a generator. Not even close to what I would have expected. I immediately asked for a room change and was quickly moved to a very small room on the 4th floor. The room was setup for one person-one nightstand, no closet and wide gaps in the doorway (which would be expected for an older inn). Very loud and active hallway with children running back and forth.

The staff, however, is beyond fantastic and almost made up for the room. Valets are terrific. The spa is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is well versed at service.

The falconry class is a must.

The bar and restaurants were good and reminded me of what the inn felt like before they were bought.

We expected a shuttle to Stratton mountain and there is none except holidays so be sure you expect to drive to the mountain (about 20 minutes).

It has a mix of charm and what has now become the Starwood way of decorating with large photos and striped pillows. Not quite sure we would stay again but the experience was pleasant.

Every year we stay at the Equinox for our annual family ski trip. It never disappoints! The staff and service are great, always making us and our kids feel welcome. We worked with the concierge two weeks before arriving to schedule activities such as sleigh rides and make dinner reservations. The complimentary shuttle to Manchester Village is very convenient. Our kids enjoy swimming in the pool after skiing all day. There are plenty of activities for adults and kids. The property is historic with modern amenities in the rooms. The Marsh Tavern located in the hotel has good food and is very convenient. Great hotel, we'll be back again next year!

We enjoyed five nights here over the winter break. Close to skiing at both Bromley and Stratton Mountain's. Staff is excellent and hotel has invested in top-notch customer relationship management system. Wherever you go in the hotel, they know who you are, they know what you like to eat, they know about your food allergies and they all make you feel welcome. Excellent five-star buffet breakfast every morning. Free valet service for your car so it is always ready for you. Great shopping nearby. Spa was wonderful as well. Large family style rooms are available Which help to offset premium room rates. If you have pet allergies I suggest you call ahead and ensure that they super clean your room. They are a pet friendly hotel but are also set up to do the deep cleaning in between guests. Call ahead to book your spa appointments and dinner reservations especially during busy weeks. Astri the concierge will be happy to help you.

Regards, James Martino

Our family has just returned from our annual trip to this wonderful resort. My husband and I take our 3 adult children, so we had 4 rooms. This trip was a new experience for us due to the fact that our daughter & son-in-law brought along their 3 1/2 month old twins. They almost backed out of the trip this year since they were hesitant about bringing the babies. We are all so happy they decided to come; this resort caters to families of ALL ages.
First of all the the staff had 2 cribs in the room upon arrival; these were very clean, white cribs that fit perfectly in the large guest room. The staff in the Marsh Tavern at dinner and in the large dining room for breakfast were extremely accommodating. There are so many nice common areas to relax throughout the property, that it was easy to get out of the room with the little ones and find a nice place to sit and relax while the rest of the clan was out skiing.
I highly recommend anyone with children of any age (from infant to adulthood) to visit this superb resort for a relaxing getaway with lots of pampering from the staff. I am looking forward to watching our grandchildren fall in love with this resort and continue the family tradition of visiting each year for many years to come!

We have stayed at the Equinox, and it is always wonderful. This time we were assigned to room 403, which was quiet and lovely. While it was fun watching young families and kids scurrying around some of the common areas downstairs, retreating to this luxurious, peaceful little haven upstairs was so wonderful and romantic.

Of note, I stayed last time in the Inns at the Equinox, which were their surrounding properties, and I felt that it was completely lacking in the warmth and poetic experience you get from the main building. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again (but not at the Inns) and come often for special events and celebrations.

Booked this hotel thru Amex FHR, got an okay room (told it was an upgrade but didn't feel like it). The front desk ladies were pretty careless, they didn't seem to care when we asked them questions.

When we went to bed, the bed was wet! It felt like the linens did get changed from the previous guest but when we entered the bed, it sent the water back into the linen. A very unpleasant and discusting feeling!! We were switched to another room in another section, which was nicer (don't know why we didn't get that room to begin with, being SPG Gold and Amex FHR), in a very old section (the floor was not even, it added to the charm of the room) and a marble shower. Unfortunately, when we got to bed again, the linens were dirty in the second room! We clearly got unlucky on that stay!

The hotel has a lot of charm, there is pictures of the 1800s throughout the hotel and it is actually real pictures of the hotel (it opened in 1775). the renovation of the rooms and hallway are very stylish and nice. There is many fireplaces throughout the hotel and they are lit up even during the summer, it is very nice to sit there and relax.

They have an indoor pool, it is in a strange location, you have to walk outside to another building, which I wouldn't like to do during the winter months.

The town is special, all the walkways are made of marble! They advertise many outlets but it is nothing to be very excited.. it's just a couple of shops...

The food was good but I was expecting more variety.

The hotel has a private reserve with paths that you can walk, it is very nice.

Will probably never return to Manchester as there is not a lot to do.
