The Equinox Hotel Resort and Spa was the perfect weekend getaway for my husband and I as we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. The rooms are beautifully appointed and very clean. The pedicure in the spa was a luxurious way to relax after hiking on the mountain behind the hotel. Sitting at the fire pit on the back patio of the Falcon Bar was the perfect ending to the weekend!.

The Equinox is one of our favorite places to stay. The spa is outstanding and offers a variety of services for men and women. The hotel and staff are outstanding and extremely friendly as well. The food in the restaurant is good but does not change enough from year to year for my taste. The fire pit outside is great fun for socializing and having a drink with friends. I have stayed here for work functions and for fun and always have had a great experience and friendly service. The pool and exercise room are substancial compared to other locations. The resort town houses are a nice option if available. I love that it is so close to shopping in town as well. Nice escape!

Room Tip: Need reservations! Great place for a conference as well. We were treated great for a large group.

My husband and I stayed at the Equinox for our One Year Wedding Anniversary. The natural setting of the hotel is breathtaking and I was excited to stay in such a historic property. Unfortunately, the only thing historical remaining about the hotel is the facade (essentially the entire outer shell) and the sloping floors. The renovations in the hotel are nice and we were comfortable throughout our stay. However, we felt like we were staying in an upper mid-range priced hotel in either NYC or Boston as compared to a historic resort in Vermont. From what I read from other reviews prior to our stay, I think the hotel is just catering to different expectations. So I don't want this to come off as a negative review. If you want to stay at a historic B&B, then the Equinox is not for you. If you want an impeccably well-run and well-appointed hotel in Manchester, then the Equinox is the right place for you. (However, I will note that staying at the 1811 house, which is affiliated with the Equinox, is a great way to possibly have your cake and eat it too).

Another thing I will note, is that there were two weddings at the hotel the weekend we stayed there. This is something to keep in mind when booking, as the rooms with views fill up fast. Our first night, we were placed in a great room, but it overlooked a roof when we were expecting the green mountains of Vermont. We were lucky in that one room opened up the next night with a much more "verdant" view and the hotel moved all of our belongings while we were out.

Overall, the Equinox was a great place to stay. We took advantage of the spa amenities which were phenomenal and there is a trail head within walking distance of the hotel for those who want to experience nature.

Room Tip: Request a view of the mountains from either the 3rd or 4th Floor

The hotel itself is a classic colonial style house. You feel like you go into a time warp, everything from the way the valets are dressed to the natural history of the hotel. The rooms have all been updated and are nice and clean.
The hotel is also VERY dog friendly and we loved bringing our little one along. They brought dog toys and water/food bowl to the room that we thought was very nice.

The hotel grounds are especially amazing if you like to hike. Equinox mountain is right behind the resort and it is a beautiful nature experience. There is a large lake as well that our dog loved swimming in.

Fun place that I will definitely go back to... a big thumbs up for being dog friendly!

Just returned from a wedding at this lovely resort in the most beautiful setting of majestic mountains. We were a family of twelve, with four small children who were made to feel welcome.
The service was exceptional, especially from Irina who saved me the annoyance and expense of finding a new phone charger. She went out of her way to look for my cellphone charger in our room after we left, return my phone call and even offered to Fed-ex the charger to my home in a very timely fashion, one day after our return home. A big thank you for your kindness, Irina.

Room Tip: Home made donuts a good reason to abandon your diet!

We have been going to the Equinox for the past 25 years. Found it by chance way back then. My husband is a creature of habit. Once he likes something, we keep going back. Had a problem in the past, but no more. Golf is superior to most. The staff is great. We were there for total R and R. Massages are wonderful. I took the falcon course years ago, loved it. Shuttle service is great. Will be going again in the fall.

The room type that was confirmed and charged for wasn't provided.  An inferior room type (Queen vs Superior King) was given with the later explanation (after we realized that we didn't have a Superior King Room or even a king-size bed) that  nothing could be done.  A $50 adjustment to the rate of the first night was made but not to the second night even thought the involuntary room downgrade wasn't corrected.  The second night was charged as if we had gotten a Superior King (as we had reserved) but didn't receive.

The downgraded room we were given had only 1 chair and no table at all in it.  As a result, we had to eat room service breakfast (brought on a tray) sitting on the floor and using the seat of the one wing-backed chair as a makeshift table.   Haven't had this experience even in a Motel 6 not to mention a room in Vermont costing $449 per night (actually, over $525 per night after room taxes and "Daily Resort Fee" were  added.

The other less-than-charming aspect of the room we were given was the in-window air conditioning unit.  Seems that many rooms have Central Air but some do not.  These in-window units roar like freight trains making a night's sleep challenging.

The telephone by the bedside didn't function and 3 calls over 2 days failed to even get a hotel staff to check it.   All calls had to be made from the bathroom.

All Calls and even a Voicemail left with the Concierge failed to elicit any response or return call over the two-day stay.

A note warning of high check-out volume was sent with our room charge statement on our check-out day.  Suggestions included using the television on-demand system to check-out.  Ironically, that online check-out system was on a scheduled down time.  (Who in the world would shut down the online check-out system in the mornings???  That it the ONE time people want to use it.)

Overall, hugely disappointing.  Don't bother with this place as it is resting on its past (and now undeserved) reputation.   Choose one of the other small luxury inns nearby.
