Large, clean suite that was very well appointed. Everything was top notch. Pleasant staff, very comfortable king bed, classy and yet a charming Vermont feel that made the whole experience very enjoyable. A jacuzzi tub that you can actually fit into, spacious bathroom, very nice grounds, and a very nice breakfast. If they can continue to keep their price point in check you can also throw in the word - value. A real treat. We will be back.

First of all, may I say that the staff are marvelous, the included breakfast delicious, and the grounds lovely. We stayed three nights in the Dorothy Canfield Fisher suite, about which the young man who showed us the lodging said, with only a bit of exaggeration, "It's bigger than my apartment!" Snug and attractive little sitting room, hallway with a Keurig coffeemaker and cookies at turndown, and really large bedroom. Both sitting room and bedroom had flatscreen TV.

A couple of negatives kept me from rating it a 5. There was a steep, long and narrow staircase to access the apartment, which could prove difficult for some, and we didn't know about it until we were there. The bathroom door squeaked as it opened or closed. There were no grab bars in the bathtub/shower, and it was sufficiently slippery to warrant installation, especially as the bar for the shower curtain was springloaded and therefore provided no support. The soap quickly became a mass of goo. And I concur with another review that a little refrigerator would have been very nice. The ice bucket was also much too small.

That all said, it's a great place for a getaway.

My husband and I spent two nights at The Reluctant Panther and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Our room was huge, luxurious and quiet; it had an extremely comfortable bed with gorgeous linens, a sitting area, a marble bathroom, jacuzzi tub and was beautifully appointed. This is truly an exquisite property and what makes it shine even more is the exquisite service; everyone is polite, kind and goes out of their way to make your stay perfect. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious, with homemade breads and jams. I travel to many 5 star hotels and I feel this Inn surpassed them, as they offer all of the luxury with all of the personal touches of an inn; just for example they bring homemade cookies when they turn down your bed.

Room Tip: The Inn was just redone and I can't see how you could wrong with any of the rooms. We stayed in...

Manchester, VT is a lovely town to explore and the Reluctant Panther Inn is a great overnight choice for exploring it. Very quaint and unpretentious, unlike some of the other choices in town. The morning breakfast which was included proved to be substantial, tasty and overall a big plus. Very accommodating as to when the room was cleaned etc. and the dogs were allowed to eat on the outside patio with us. We did not try the dining room for dinner as it wasn't open the first night we arrived but it seems to get good reviews. The Panther suite was very charming with its own private entrance, great for the dogs. It looked out on the gardens, which were quite lovely and added to the summertime ambiance. None of the other inns I spotted had this to offer. Yet it was not overdone but just enough to be relaxing. The inn was a comfortable sleep so I would give the Reluctant Panther an overall great rating and definitely visit again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Panther Suite. A tad loud with 7A summer traffic (the room is located in front) but...

We had the good fortune recently to stay at the Reluctant Panther in Manchester, Vermont and was not disappointed. The main part of the inn has been rebuilt in the same style as the charming original which was burned in the 1960's. Accommodations in this main building are newer and more updated, while accommodations in the historic houses which surround the inn are from the turn of the century. Advise which style accommodations you prefer, as the historic buildings may have sloping floors and 'historic charm'.

The village itself is probably the loveliest in Vermont and even has marble sidewalks in front on the hotel. The entire inn is upscale, including Frette robes in the bath. Small Luxury Hotels rarely disappoint!
