“Still disappointed after all these years....”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

We have been skiing at Jackson Gore and dining at the Tavern for 4 years, and the food has been consistently poor (certainly not justifying the price). Each year we hope the previous year was a fluke. This week, the clams were way too salty, beets were MIA in the beet salad, the risotto was clumpy and tasteless. We were excited this season to learn about a new "farm-to-table" emphasis, only to find a similar menu with some Vermont cheese added here and there. (Ok, the chevre was delicious!) Oh well, maybe next year... P.S. The service is always friendly and attentive.

“Worth many repeat visits!”
Reviewed January 10, 2013 via mobile

New chef, Scott Emerson, has made quite a difference: beautifully prepared food with attention to color and texture; excellent wine list; attentive but discreet service. Went several nights in a row.

“Above average for adults, slow service, pricey, low-quality kids' food”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

This is the place you come to relax your last night, when you have the time and want a good glass of Merlot with dinner. It isn't the place you come to economize, nor even great for the kids. Dinner entrees average $25-30, desserts $7. Service is slow, but the adult food is well-prepared. We tried the quail, duck and pork dishes, and all were very good. The kids' menu is dismal, however. $10 for Kraft (easy to recognize those never-all-dente little orange tubes) mac and cheese and a glass of milk, or a cupful of overcooked Barilla penne with butter and a glass of milk, entrees that cost about $1.50 each to throw together. Maybe they just don't want kids, but then why put the $16 'smores pot on the menu, as Hershey's chocolate and graham crackers is clearly a dessert geared toward the younger crowd. I'm rating it very good for the adult food selection, but really think the kids' menu needs revamping -- maybe kids prefer Kraft (mine don't), and maybe it is an upscale restaurant, but that doesn't justify charging $10 for a $1.50 meal.

Glad to read about your positive experience with us and happy you took the time to share your comments. We are proud to say that all our food is prepared to order, and that we do not rely on partial cooking in advance for fast service. I am glad you acknowledge and appreciate that.

In terms of our children's menu, it has seen its evolution from homemade mac and cheese (that we found most children did not appreciate) back to Kraft under high demand. That said, we know not all kids have the same palette, and offer burgers, chicken fingers and grilled chicken as options. I also commonly suggest that the more sophisticated children split an adult entree for a great option.

In terms of pricing, not only is that driven by cost of the food, but the service, ambiance and value. Based on your comments, we seem to be doing a pretty good job, but will definitely use your input to take it to the next level.

Thanks again for choosing Coleman Brook and we look forward to hosting you again soon.

“Great if you are not in a rush”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

The quality of the food is excellent but if you want a quick lunch while skiing this is not the place. The pace is "relaxing." We ate there twice. The first day as better than the second. The second day the server was new and we had a lot of wrong charges and it was especially slow. It is also really overpriced. $10 for kids meals The food quality is good though. Loved the chicken pot pie.

“Very Accommodating for Food Allergies!”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

We went to CBTavern for lunch recently with our grandson who has multiple food allergies. The waitress was very helpful. The chef personally came out to discuss what he could make for my grandson. He went out of his way to make sure appropriate food would be served. That made us feel that he really cared about his customers.

The food overall was good, but the service was excellent.

This restaurant is on Okemo Mountain, so it has great views of skiers coming down the mountain. I think it has a very good atmosphere, especially for adults.
