“Friendly staff but little information”

Green Mountain Sugar House
Ranked #4 of 14 things to do in Ludlow

We visited a few of the sugar houses during the Maple Open House weekend and found this one to be a little disappointing. Whilst the staff in the gift shop were friendly and welcoming, as was the lady in the tasting room, there was no one around to explain the process. The tasting selection was also poor in comparison to some of the other sugar houses, however the gift shop had some nice items.

Green Mountain Sugar House is a functional sugar house and gift shop. During the early spring you can arrange to have a tour of their maple syrup distillery for free, truly fantastic and informative to watch the process while you sip on delicious samples of maple syrup. This place has a number of delicious treats, including a wide range of maple syrup, but nothing tops their so called "Maple Creamees" (maple flavored ice cream to the rest of us). You may think you've experienced maple ice cream before, but not like this you haven't; soft served and infused with pure maple syrup on site, these are something special. A bit random, but I also happen to be obsessed with the rocking chairs they sell out front, as a bit of a chair geek, they're ergonomically perfect! Highly recommend for all of the above.

Interesting place with a nice gift store. The maple creemees were awesome. Probably more interesting to tour during sugaring season.

I love this place. The people who work there are so friendly and helpful. We bought all our gifts to take home there. We also were not there when the syrup making process was happening. But, you can go do a self tour. Oh and don't miss having a maple creeme.

We were here wrong time of year to see the production process, but it is well worth your time to stop and have some maple ice cream, with the emphasis on the maple and the cream. Fantastic.
