“OK place expected more”
Reviewed February 22, 2012

POSITIVE;
1 Location; absolutely great. right on the mountain
2. friendly staff; but they did send me to the wrong room which was occupied. annoying after a 3 + hour drive carrying all your stuff up stairs

3. well equiped kitchen in place ; this is a big one. Instead of siiting in a crowded loud lodge during lunch & paying for bad food, you can have a meal of your choosing in a more comfortable slopeside room
4. Okemo mountain; very well run friendly family ski area

Cons;
1. this place looks worn. the hallway & stairs leading to our room (B203 ) look like an inner city tenement & were not cleaned during our stay
2. most of the furnishings were broken or beginning to break
3. bathroom this was bad. it is so small that a large man can expect to have trouble closing the door. the toilet would only flush #1 anything solid required a plunger which is provided.
the toilet seat would not stay up(another problem for a man)
4 Noise; starts at about 6 am working on the slopes
5. Check in 5:00 pm check out noon
6. no pool. they say a pool & jacuzzi is 1.5 miles away
7cost. would be acceptable if this place had amenities consistant w / other resorts,but it does not

In the end my family had a good time. I would return to Okemo, but next time I will do more homework and either find a nice place or a cheap place. (not an expensive so- so place)

We stayed at the Mountain Lodge property, and as far as the lodging goes - it is OK. Flat screen, fireplace, king size bed - it was all there. Daily room clean up, toiletries, balconi, proximity to the lifts too.

The skiing at Okemo is great - the slopes, parks, grooming - east coast skiing could not be any better.

One thing that was missing is any life at the resort after the skiing is over.

For us, the biggest reason to pay up and stay at a ski resort property was not to have to use a car, preferably for the whole duration of the stay. We could do this at Smuggs and at the Mont Tremblant, but this was not possible at Okemo -- after 3pm, midweek, everything closes down and you got to drive someplace else to have a dinner anyway. With the assigned parking spot about 5-7 minutes walk from the condo, this becomes a nuisance quite soon.

You want ice skating, massage, or a swimming pool? You got to drive to the Jackson Gore location about 2 miles up the road.

It was a well priced deal that I took, it was convenient in the morning - to wake up and walk to the lifts in no time at all, the amenities are pretty good, but the value still isn't there - you pay the stiff premium but in my opinion it was not really worth it.

Will I go to the Okemo again? Yes!
Will I stay at the mountain lodge again? No, I would not.

Our 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom condo was excellent!! The whole place was really clean. The bathroom was small but had a nice powerful shower head! There was even a full kitchen with an oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and lots of dishes and silverware! The bedroom was fairly large, and had its own flat screen tv. The main room was large, and it had two really comfy chairs and a big sofa. It also had a flatscreen tv. In addition, there was a little fireplace, and it was really nice that the lodge provided wood, matches and starters! Our room even had a little balcony! The heating system was really nice as it was very hot, which was comforting after a long day of skiing. All the people in the lodge were extremely friendly, and were very generous, as our welcome bag had maple syrup, pancake mix, and other little things. It was also really nice that they didn't nickel-and-dime us. Our room included the ski lift, and with my kids lessons, lunch was included, and so were the rentals. As for those lessons, according to my kids, the instructors were really nice, and they were both level 4's by the end of their second day (it was their first time skiing). There was only one thing that I was disappointed by: the parking lot was across he street, and was really muddy and dark. It even got icy at night. But overall, it was a great trip and my family and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely reccommend the Mountain Lodge at Okemo!

We stayed at Okemo for a long weekend over spring break. This was really our best ski experience yet! First of all EVERYONE is nice and helpful! All the staff - very pleasant - this was also the case when I called for reservations, info, etc. We stayed in a one bedroom condo in the C building - we were on the second floor. All items in the room was (as another review says) dated to 1980 - but all was very nice, very comfortable, clean, well stocked. It is also true (as other reviews state) that the sofa bed was not so comfortable but my kids slept on it without any problem. Building C is incredibly convenient to the slopes. Originally, our reservations were in Building A and (having read the reviews) asked about availability of Building C and it was only about $50 more. I have to say that I don't think Building A would be so inconvenient but only that Building C is amazingly convenient. Skiing was fabulous - the mountain is a "blue" mountain so good for folks like us who go as a family to ski once a year - maybe not so challenging if you are used to black diamonds out West. For our family it was very nice and allowed our kids to explore and try challenging more trials. We had a private lesson so we could stay together as a family and it was very nice and introduced us to the whole mountain. Food in the area is very good. A final point, we looked at staying at Jackson Gore - it was much more expensive - but does look more like a nice village. Skiing on the Okemo side is much better though.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Okemo Mountain lodge. We traveled with a 3 and 5yo and this was our very first extended ski trip together with everyone skiing. We stayed in a ground floor unit in the C building which was a terrific location, right near the ski school and right next to the lift. And the ground floor unit was key as we could just exit out the back sliding doors right onto the slope. (Can be locked from outside) There is also a ski storage closet right next to the front door of the unit, although I don't think it was large enough to fit everyone's ski gear. The location was great for our little beginner skiers. We could easily walk them to ski school in the morning. The set up was perfect for our family of 4. A 1 bedrm condo with fully stocked kitchenette. There is enough room for a twin size aerobed in the bedroom. The bed in the bedroom was King. The sleeper sofa was as expected but surprisingly my spouse was able to sleep well on it. The decor is a bit dated but the unit was clean and perfectly functional. We could easily drive to Jackson Gore to use the pool and eat at the restaurant.

The skiing was AWESOME! Ski school was great- teachers were excellent!

We stayed in Building C. I know some complain about the paking at the Lodge but for Building C the parking lot is at your front door, you don't use the main parking lot like the other buildings. It took all of 1 minute to get on the slopes from our place, what more could you ask for on a ski vacation?

The condo was good. The decor was straight our of the 80's, so don't go expecting a flat screen TV or updated kitchen or overall decor. There was a CD player but that was the only thing in the place made after 1985. The kitchen had everything you will need (plates, bowls, silverware, glasses, wine opener...) Some people in other reviews mentioned the heat. I have to agree, it is SOOOOO hot when the air clicks on. So either shut some vents or keep the air on a super low setting. The pull out sofa was not comfy. My son didnt seem to mind it, but I had to lay on it for a few hours and it was awful!

We had to use the laundry facility while we were there (2nd floor) and the machines were new and worked great, the change machine ($1.75 for the washer and the dryer each) is in the main lodge.

We went over to Jackson Gore a number of times to use the pools and sit in the bar area for drinks, hot chocolate or relax by the fire. The ambiance is def. better over there but you will apy big for it! It was easy to drive over and drive back, not a big deal at all. The pool at the Spring house was great. Our kids (ages 6 and 3) loved it. The locker rooms were nice and clean and we used them to get changed in.

The only con I have about the whole place is the we were on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator, that was a pin, but nothing that ruined our trip or anythign like that...a little extra excersize!!!
