“Five Star Organic!”
Reviewed October 27, 2010

We dine and shop at the Garden Cafe every autumn, while visiting the Weston Priory in Weston, VT. There really is NO place like the Garden Cafe, a "greenhouse-art gallery-fireplace-red brick patio, cafe". The food is delicious!

Lush plants thrive in the greenhouse (in Central Vermont!). The greenhouse is the far wall of the cafe. One couple can nestle into the corner table of the greenhouse, and feel surrounded by the art and plants. The red brick floor of the cafe, giving the presence of an exterior garden, compliments the greenhouse. Opposite the greenhouse "wall" is an opening to the small and quiet bar, and the "windows" of that wall are graced by beautiful hanging stained glass. To the one end of the cafe is an open, very creatively designed "circular" fireplace, providing warmth and a glow to the cafe. Most (if not al) doorways are arched, not perpendicular doorways....well, by now, you get the idea. Elegant, creative, organic and hearty.

Across the parking area, their natural foods store brims with organic selections.

The timeless virtues of the 1970s organic movement have elegantly matured here in the Garden Cafe; as have the owners, Tom and Judy!

“Exquisite - a total delight”
Reviewed February 3, 2009

The Garden is probably the most lovely restaurant in the Londonderry VT area. The ambiance is warm and artsy (the attached gallery only adds to the effect). The food is unique and extremely well prepared. I have been vacationing in the region for almost 40 years and this is still the best cuisine I've found bar none. I just made reservations for Valentine's Day 09 - so we'll come up from NYC and this will be our special meal. I can't say it better than that. A pure treat with lovely hospitality to boot!

“Food raw- silverware dirty”
Reviewed October 23, 2008

My wife and I found this restaurant out of convenience on our way. We were the only customers at 6pm on a weekend. That should have told us something from the start. After somewhat of a wait, especially for us being the only customers, our orders were finally taken. I ordered an eggplant and mushroom dish with custard. The custard was nearly inedible as were the raw portobello mushrooms. In addition to the dish not being fully cooked it was barley seasoned. By the time our dinners finally arrived, we were not about to ask for something else to be made. The prices were above and beyond some of the highest we saw our entire vacation. Clearly you don't get what you pay for.

“Delightful restaurant in south central Vermont”
Reviewed August 1, 2007

Located in a tiny but picture perfect little town in southern Vermont, this lovely restaurant was a real surprise. We stopped there on our way from Newfane to Weston, Vt - home of a very good summer stock theater, the Weston Playhouse and the well known Weston Country Store.
This restaurant is located in an art gallery and features a tasteful dining room with an unusual collection of fine china which may be different at each beautifully set table. We found a very good selection of wines and a very interesting menu - with most entrees in the $25 - $36 range. The four of us each ordered a different meal. The service was friendly and very knowledgeable - helpful since one of us has to be on a gluten free diet which they recognized immediately. We found the appetizers interesting, beautifully served and delicious, and were even happier with our entrees. I ordered an unusual curried vegetable and fruit dish - like nothing I have ever had before but heavenly. My husband had a more conventional steak which he found to be cooked perfectly to order and served with very interesting garnishes and presentation.
The chef has apparently been there for many years and is widely known in the area. Dinner for the two of us was $103 including taxes and tip. We were all delighted with this place and surprised to find food like this so far out of a major city.
