I chose to stay at Birch Ridge because of the great Trip Advisor reviews. I was not disappointed. Everything that all of the reviewers talk about is absolutely true! Bill & Mary are the perfect hosts, the Inn is immaculate, the food is exceptional and the entire experience is relaxing and nostalgic. Every getaway should be like this! If you are visiting Killington, you must stay or eat here. You'll want all of your getaways to measure up to Birch Ridge!

My wife and I stayed here over mlk weekend. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay owners are very friendly and genuinely nice people. Breakfast was great every morning yumm. Very close to the Mt and restaurants in the area. The inn has the best food we had on our stay in Killington it was delicious. If your looking for a great place to stay in Killington this is the place as I have stayed in other places but this stay was by far the best.

The owners are wonderful, hardworking, accommodating people. They keep the whole place perfectly clean and updated. The breakfast is really special and the dinners are terrific. There are situated very near Killington Ski area and show beautiful colors in the fall. We are return visitors and never been disappointed. Leo and Nancy

I might give four stars if looking for more ski-centric accommodations, but there are too many other positives about Birch Ridge Inn to warrant anything less than five. We arrived close to 8:30 on a Friday evening, and owner Bill was waiting at the door to greet us, check us in, and give us a quick tour of the inn. As most other reviews have noted, Bill and Mary are two of the most friendly and attentive hosts you could ever hope for.

After we brought in our gear (this is the part that makes it slightly less than ski/snowboard friendly), Bill welcomed us into the large bar area, with fireplace and comfy couches . Close to 9:00 pm now, but Bill said dinner was still available as we ordered a craft beer and a custom house martini. We expected pub food, so were surprised at the gourmet menu. A couple of bowls of homemade bisque hit the spot, followed by top notch entrees. I enjoyed a braised veal shank atop a sweet potato mash with asparagus. It was sublime, as was my wife's fancy stuffed ravioli (lobster, risotto...I don't recall precisely). We finished it off with apéritifs which we were able to take back to our room...the perfect nightcap. In the morning, Mary prepared a wonderful breakfast.

This inn has a rustic charm. Obviously quite old, but with nicely updated rooms. We stayed in Room #6 (king bed), which was impeccable. Clean, spacious, with gas fireplace, a cozy sitting area in the window alcove. The bathroom was huge and spotless, with a nice tub for soaking after a day in the cold (that's probably the only other downside; no hot tub at the inn). The tiny tv (like a 22" computer monitor) is cleverly hidden behind a sliding picture wall. The space could probably be better utilized with a big screen mounted to the wall, but we weren't there to watch tv. It was perfectly adequate for our needs.

We had plans in town for our Second night, but when we returned the inn was hoppin'. The bar was vibrant, a few people still in the dining room. This is such a homey, nice place, felt like we were among old friends.

One other thing to consider; Birch Ridge Inn is a little tough to spot from the road, and the access is rather steep. We didn't have the AWD on this trip, but they managed to keep the drive well cleared and we didn't have any problem. However, in heavy snow this could be an issue if you don't have a real ski vehicle. Also, being directly across from the Wobbly Barn, you can stumble down the hill and leave the car (and designated driver) behind.

All in all, Birch Ridge Inn is a charming gem with a B&B feel thanks to Bill and Mary. Highly recommended, especially if you're looking for a romantic weekend, not necessarily the typical Killington ski party scene.

Room tip: Rooms toward the back (#6) are quiet and spacious, with king bed and fireplace, and huge bathroom with tub.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Birch Ridge Inn to explore this area of Vermont! When we arrived it was chilly and raining, but we were welcomed warmly by Bill, who made us feel right at home. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We woke up the next morning to glorious sunshine and the prettiest view with beautiful fall colors! The breakfasts Mary prepared were delicious! She was very helpful with suggesting interesting places to visit accompanied with hand written directions!. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and plan to return!
