“Good experience.. .check for specials on their website”

We went up this past weekend for my husbands birthday. The inn has cute country decor and a welcoming feeling. The room was well decorated and the meals were good. Breakfast simple, choice of either fr. toast; pancakes; or eggs w. bac or saus and toast and a 4th choice that I cant remember... all with plenty of coffee and juice (a bit watered down though). It was great to start the day off with a hearty breakfast. We had sirloin for dinner and it was delicious. During dinner the fireplace was roaring and the side lounges open.. great atmosphere. The drink we had from the bar was delicious, made with several hard liquors the bartender definitely knew what they were doing. I will say that the pool needs new paint on the bottom (it looks dirty although it is not) and the whirlpool did not get very warm. The sauna was great though.

We went because they were offering a special deal that included breakfast (always does) and dinner too. For the price we paid it was a great value and although a further drive from hotels on the main strip we were at the ramshead slope in about 5-7 minutes...this was perfect for us.

If you are going for a spa experience this is not the place, for a B&B feel with a warm staff and owners (really great people who went out of their way for us), clean and simple style.. this is the place. Check for discounts on the "specials" section of the website- there were several listed this weekend.

  • Liked — great hospitality, thick towels, great dinner, specials offered
  • Disliked — state of the pool/whirlpool

Well, we booked the hotel because in website appeared very nice and it appeared to be near the ski resort. The hotel is very old and has a musty smell. It is farer than 5 miles as it appears in the website. Swimming pool and especially hot tube were very dirty. When we complained about it, the manager said that they are going to change the water within two hours but when the owner came he said that they are going to change the water tomorrow. So even we paid for all this we werent able to enjoy it.
You are not able to open the window.
Sauna was OK. Fireplace was nice. Breakfast its served from 7 to 9:30 and you have only four choices.
I think that this hotel is very expensive for the service that they offer.

We spent 7 nights at the Grey Bonnet Inn over the new year. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable and Karen and Paul went out of their way to ensure that our visit was enjoyable.

The food in the restaurant is not fancy, but is tasty and well presented. We sampled most of the menu and there was nothing we didn't like!

This hotel represents excellent value for money, and what it may lack in luxuries is more than made up for with the hospitality.

We would definitely stay here again should we get the opportunity to return to Vermont

Pros:

*Breakfast is included

*The food is quite good

*Easy ski storage

*Shuttle access to mountain and bars

Cons:

*The water is yellow

*The rooms smell (musty, funky, and just bad, despite the five air fresheners scattered around)

*The carpeting in our room needed to be replaced… five years ago

*Understaffed, the front desk is almost always deserted, and it takes a few minutes to track someone down

*The bartender/ concierge was prone to angry outbursts at guests and snapped at us when he was asked for ketchup one too many times

*The staff acted like we should be grateful that we were permitted to stay at their hotel

*Stingy with shuttle tickets - they said that because we were going to an expensive restaurant for dinner we didn’t need more than one set of tickets and should pay for the trip from dinner to the bars

*The hot tub worked one day out of the three we were there and never got that hot – when we complained we were given the runaround – also it looked like it was installed during the Carter administration, and the chipping paint caused sharp pin pricks on your back

*Warning signs and fees everywhere - $25 if you open your room window, $2.50 to call information, fragile toilet plumbing, $0.50 to play foosball, one towel per guest at the pool, etc.

I stayed here with my boyfriend and another couple for New Year's this year and we had a great time. I will break it down by feature:

The Inn itself - really cute, large, great country decor, the lounge is super comfortable with a working fireplace. Shuttles take you to and from the mountain and the local restaurants and nightlife, and the best part is they are free.
The restaurant - great food! Breakfast in the morning was included in the room price and it was a mixture of hot and cold items and perfect for right before a long day of skiing. We chose to do the 5 course NYE dinner which is a steal compared to NY prices at $58 dollars. It was very good.
The staff - loved them, we loved chit chatting with Karen, Paul and Ed. Karen is so warm, we felt like family.
The room - I wouldn't recommend the basement, which is where we stayed, it gets kind of stuffy down there, but we skiied all day so we were not in the room for much time. It was a bit rustic, but the heat and hot water and water pressure all worked well. And the decor was cute and matched the rest of the inn.

I would recommend this for couples and family, not really for young groups of people looking to party but for people who just want a warm, relaxing getaway. After we came back from our New Year's party, we just hung out at the bar with the Innkeepers and it was the perfect end to the evening.

  • Liked — The Innkeepers and the food
  • Disliked — The room got a bit stuffy

This is a very large B&B (40 rooms). The wonderful hosts of this establishment live in the hotel. Hotel is very close to Killington Ski resort, so we appreciated a short drive after a long day on the mountain. Hotel is clean and feels like home you want to have away from home (if you could afford it). The family running this place are VERY friendly. We got back very late 1 night with gas tank of our car completely empty (couldn't move, and all gas stations in the area close early) so Paul (one of the owners) let us borrow a couple of gallons to drive to the station -- I haven't seen this kind of hospitality anywhere else (period)
