“Truly delightful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2014

Honestly, not all B&B's are as accommodating, clean and relaxing as Ed and Irene's Cold Moon Farm. My friends and I drove up late on a Friday evening from NYC for a weekend of skiing and could not have asked for a better place to stay for the weekend. Prior to our arrival, Ed and Irene helped to arrange lift tickets, ski rentals (for some of us in our party) and Saturday night dinner reservations.

Additionally, they were understanding of the food restrictions in our group and made sure everyone had options for a hearty breakfast before hitting the slopes. The breakfast was one of our favorite parts of the weekend - from fresh eggs to farm raised bacon and of course, the delicious homemade breads - we could not have asked for a better way to start our day! In fact, next time we come back, we now know we can pre-order their baked goods (and other specialty foods) to bring back with us to the city!

We stayed in the Family Room and it was spacious enough to accommodate 4 adults. The beds were comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. I particularly liked the fact that they had enough fresh towels and bathrobes for our group (clearly, I've had bad experiences with this is at other B&B's).

In addition to Ed and Irene's wonderful hospitality, the staff at Cold Moon Farm was also friendly and helpful. We didn't need to ask for much as they had already prepared everything for us (most importantly, as already mentioned, the delicious breakfast!), however when we did have questions about navigating the skiing, parking, etc., they were extremely helpful.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend and we look forward to coming back next ski season, or hopefully even before to enjoy the hiking VT has to offer!

Ed and Irene are fantastic hosts! They waited up for our late arrival from NYC and were up early to greet us with an amazingly fresh breakfast of organic eggs from their chickens and ducks, bacon from the farm, homemade bread, delicious homemade banana and chocolate chip bread (our favorite of the weekend), oatmeal, challah french toast...the list goes on and on! They are also very accomodating for food allergies (I am lactose intollerant and my friend has Celliacs, but that was not an issue at all! We were well fed before a long day of skiing!

The Farm is a shot 10 -15 minute drive from the main lodge, depending on conditions. Ed was fantastic and arranged our lift tickets ahead of time so we didn't have to wait in any lines in the morning and were able to hit the slopes! At the end of the day we came back to the cozy inn with snacks and wine while we got ready to go to a dinner back on the mountain, which Ed and Irene had kindly arranged for reservations ahead of time. The whole stay they made sure we were well taken care of!

The rooms are very cozy and clean and the house feels like its yours! We were four girls up for the weekend and shared a room which was perfect! The other guests in the house were couples and families, all very nice people and it was fun to get to meet people who we then saw out on the mountain! I highly recommend Cold Moon Farm and my friends and I cannot wait to go back next winter (or maybe this summer for some hiking and mountain biking)!

Room Tip: The rooms and the inn is very clean and feels like its your own home! We loved it! And its very clos...

I don't know who loved the trip more- us or our 2 year old son! Very warm and hospitable staff, great location, relaxing way to be a part of farm life. Can help milk their goats, collect the chicken and duck eggs, feed the sheep, etc. and then go in for a delicious homemade breakfast made with ingredients from the morning's farm chores. Farm to table! The 2 couples that run the farm as well as Julia and Jackson are as sweet as can be and you can even play with their baby and golden retrievers- bonus! Wonderful house full of "toys"- pool table, fuse ball, hot tub, etc. Have privacy yet can also spend time with the few other guests and the owners when you want. Easy place to stay with a young child. Will try to make it an annual trip for sure!

Thanks Sarah for the great review. We are certainly looking forward to you all returning. We are expecting piglets to be born in May as well as goat kids in May and June. The farm will be a hive of activity (pun intended). Be safe and well...Irene & the team

Cold Moon Farm was the perfect antidote to a long week of hard work in the city. After an easy drive up from Albany, NY, we were greeted by Ed and Irene as if we were already old friends. Throughout our stay, they graciously assisted with dinner reservations, navigating guest services at nearby Stratton ski resort, and even arranged to have a masseuse come out to the house after a long day on the slopes. Between outings to ski, shop, or dine, the house was perfect for relaxing by the fire and making new friends. Each time we turned up the driveway, it really felt as if we were heading home! The entire experience at Cold Moon Farm was so enjoyable that it's difficult to pinpoint a favorite part -- the delicious breakfasts, fantastic views, the great skiing at Stratton, or the friendly team that took care of us as guests at the farm. Above all, Irene and Ed's sincere hospitality is the ingredient that made our stay at Cold Moon Farm so remarkable. We hope to return again soon for another dose of Vermont!

Room Tip: The family room downstairs was spacious enough for our party of three adults. Combined with the gam...

If you're looking for a place to stay that is close to Stratton Mountain then look no further than Cold Moon Farm. We stayed there last weekend, it was just perfect. Ed and Irene are wonderful hosts, Ed was waiting for us when we arrived late on Friday night having made the long drive from New York City. As we quickly found out, Ed is a born raconteur with a lifetime of stories, Irene is lovely and made wonderful breakfasts and dinner for us using fresh produce straight from their farm. Kelly and Julia also made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the Vermonter, a big room with a comfortable queen bed. We enjoyed our stay so much we are looking forward to returning soon - next weekend.

Went here with my boyfriend last weekend and stayed in the Vermonter room. It was perfect for two, very cozy and has a large bathroom. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted like family and offered wine. Ed, Irine, Georgia, Dave and staff were all very warm and hospitable! The only thing I'd caution against is that the Vermonter is on the lower floor, next to the game room and family suite, so if there are kids staying there, you will hear them. Additionally, the breakfast was great, super convenient location to Stratton Mountain, and the views of the property and mountain were spectacular. Another perk - a hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains! Special shout-out to Ed, he made us feel right at home as we watched football with him on the big projector with the fire going.

We (family of 4 with 2 young kids) stayed at CMF for the second time and once again had a wonderful experience. The owners are wonderful people and it is very close to the Stratton ski mountain. There is also a small farm on premises. The owners gave our children a tour of the animals and it was very cute. The premises are in fine condition and there is a billiards table and gym in the basement.

The breakfasts were always delicious and usually directly from their farm.

If you are looking for a nice place that is also family friendly, you should definitely stay at CMF. We definitely plan on going back again!
