There are very few places to eat in Island Pond, and on a Monday night, it seemed like only one: the Common Sense Cafe, aka the Yellow Deli. Stepping inside, I felt like I was in a time warp and it was 1970. The decor defies description, but includes strangely shaped tree trunks, paneling, stained glass, and murals. It's definitely peculiar, but in a good way, and there's free wifi. The food is simple and not bad, as long as you don't mind the absence of pork, alcohol, or about a quarter of the items listed on the menu. The cafe is run by a religious group called the Twelve Tribes, and while they don't try to hide this, they make no effort to preach, let alone convert you. Serving skill varies from excellent to otherworldly spacey. Eating here is definitely an experience to remember!
