“Great little spot!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

Great food. Loved the burgers. Also loved the live Irish music. We were a big group and though they ended up putting us in different rooms, this great small hideaway was able to accommodate all of us.

“Out of the way gourmet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

I've been to Skunk Hollow 3 times - and am going for my 4th time tonight and am a little bit ridiculously excited. See, this place is magic. The drive is about 20-30 minutes from White River Junction/Hanover/Lebanon area, and it is so worth it. The structure that houses the restaurant is one of those old buildings that you can feel the life in, and when you walk in the front you are greeted by a warm, welcoming bar area that, in my memories, glows with a soft yellow light and happy light conversation. If you proceed upstairs, you find a much more formal atmosphere, extremely professional servers and a friendly host who leads you into a small front room that has only a handful of tables. It is very romantic to sit at one of the small side tables with your sweetheart in the soft light.
Now - the menu.....yeah. OH YES. 1, get the bread basket. Please, get the bread basket. Its like, the owners sister or someone who bakes the bread and makes the desserts everyday for them and they are AMAZING. The basket comes with 3 or 4 different kinds of bread - a popover, a sweet bread, a nice whole wheat etc and they are all so good. I dream of this bread basket.
2. - You can really not go wrong with any entree. The steak is always perfect - one year they had a surf and turf (filet mignon with sea scallop) that was just amazing. The scallop was perfect, delicious, melt in your mouth.
3. - Dessert...eat it! So good! My favorite so far has been a lemon tart with berry sauce..oh so sweet, tangy, smooth and the perfect cap to a perfect meal.
I love this place. It is my favorite "fancy" restaurant to go to in the Upper Valley, even though you can absolutely go there on wednesday night for karaoke just to drink and have a burger. No other restaurant that touts itself as having really great food - think Canoe Club, Jesses etc - even comes close to the meal you will have at this place.

“Wednesday Nights Open Mic is show good!”

A lot of local talent comes to this small irish pub style atmosphere yet upstairs is a more formal dining experience with a unique menu and the food was superior. Skunk Hollow offers great food and spirits!

“Best Burgers to Filet Mignon Menu Around”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Take your time, enjoy Vermont at it's best, with local food, music and beer. It's not out of the way, if you know where it is. Just a couple miles off the interstate. This is a family run business and you'll immediately feel welcome. The Chicken Carlos is the best chicken around, fish, burgers and Filet Mignon are also fantastic.
Desserts are all homemade, the toffee bar cake with homemade cinnamon ice cream is fantastic. Sometimes, my daughter just wants to go for the homemade popovers in the bread basket. You won't find a microwave in the kitchen. Local open mike on Wednesdays and everything from blues to jazz on Fridays.

“WHAT FUN!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

What a great little place. I give it 5 starts because it was absolutely perfect at being what it is; a great place for a meal, in rural VT with a fun beer selection, some history and a great time. Out of the way, and way better than expected. A treasure in a beautiful state. Had a great time with a coworker when the local brew pub closed earlier than we had hoped. They turned us onto the Skunk Hollow. Anxious to find a reason to get back.
