We live about half an hour from Claires and this was our 5th visit. They are expensive but we have had some good meals and their drinks are great. Went to see the band last night and just had $13 burgers. Terrible. Burnt burgers, buns and salty as could be. Ketchup if that was what it was? was super sweet and they "don't have mayo". We also ordered desserts. Which were $9.50 a piece and a total joke. About two tablespoons of ice cream with maple kettle corn so riddled with old maids I didn't dare eat it. The calamari was cooked perfectly no complaints there. Service was average and very slow. Husband had 2 drinks and I drank soda. $87 bucks plus tip. I'll hit the diner from now on.

Claires's is a focal spot for all the wonderful fresh local foods in this area. It is not to be missed!! The employees are educated, friendly and above all professional. The food is innovative, fresh and local. The bar is friendly and on Thursday nights there is live music.

Claire's has a city-like atmosphere: upscale and the place to indulge and be seen. Prices are quite high for the Hardwick, a small VT town, but it has a dedicated following of locals. The soups are hearty and can make the entire meal. Monday special (not on the menu) is quite good grilled cheese and fries for $5. and half price local ale at $2.50. Best poutine I have ever had- from our friendly Canadian neighbors just a few miles away: french fries with cheese and wonderfully savory gravy.
Local bread, beers, greens, and meats. A good bar selection of unique combination drinks, if you indulge.
Great local art grace the walls.

This is a fine restaurant. The menu is packed with innovative dishes based on local Vermont products.Everything seems to be very carefully prepared and delicious. I had a grilled scallop dish that not only had delicate big scallops but amazing vegetables to accompany them. The desserts are memorable.
Locally produced alcoholic drinks are served.( I think that serving fine wine and desserts in canning jars is kind of unnecessary but some of the local patrons are a young neo-hippie group and it's always okay to recycle. Just made me feel like bringing not my own bottle but my own stemware.)
I love that local art is displayed on the walls.

This is a surprisingly urbane small restaurant/bistro in rural Vermont. Have eaten here three times. Menu is original but not exotic or daring. Local products are privileged (apple, maple, meats etc). Simple decor, uncluttered, quiet. Service somewhat amateurish, Friendly but Vermont style! Food is good to very good, fresh, and pleasing presentation. Drinks are interesting. Wine list short but many local vintages. Upscale prices for locale.
