“Beautiful property”
Reviewed October 7, 2010

The Ferry Watch Inn is situated on a beautiful piece of property right on Lake Champlain. The backyard is facing the lake where my husband and I spent some time watching the sunsets. The lawn and grounds are beautifully groomed. The Innkeepers were very personable and friendly. The breakfast was adequate. The rooms in the Inn were sparkling clean and well-kept.
Some constructive criticism: The Innkeepers didn't give us a good tour of the place. The living room was very uninviting....the furniture was not comfortable and it didn't seem to be the type of place to put up your feet. There were no games or cards to use during our stay. We didn't find out until later that we could use the den, and we were never shown access to the back deck.
The room itself was very pretty, but there was way too much "stuff". Every surface was covered with dolls, stuffed animals, little tea sets, etc. and I felt guilty moving any of these things to put my stuff down. The bathroom was immaculate, but there was no place to hang wet towels and again, no clear surface to put down my things.
All in all, my husband and I had a very nice stay there. We enjoyed the grounds immensely and were pleased with the Inn and the Innkeepers.

We have just returned from a delightful 3 night stay with the Werts at their B & B.
The old farmhouse and barn have been tastefully restored and were most comfortable for our weekend getaway. The location is one of the most beautiful spots on the west shore of Lake Champlain. We will most certainly return and will recommend it to friends.
Thank you, Janet and Troy. We felt like family.

Ferry Watch Inn is a wonderful refurbished old home on Lake Champlain with views of the Adirondack Mtns to the west and Green Mountains of Vt. to the east. And of course the ferry that crosses from NY to Vt. The hosts, the Werts, are friendly, warm and helpful and have created a little piece of heaven for themselves and their guests. We stayed in the "suite" which is a converted garage that serves as a 1 bedroom, living room, kitchenette and small bathroom. The suite provides a private entrance. Though the Ferry Watch Inn is a B&B, the suite does not come with breakfast although our hosts did invite us on our last day there to dine with the other guests. Breakfast was fabulous!

The suite was extremely clean and cozy, nice furnishings and convenient with the kitchen however the bathroom is tiny. There is no sink in the bathroom which is up a few steps. It wasn't a huge inconvenience except for my partner having to shave in the kitchen. We had the run of the grounds which are beautiful with gardens, old buildings which add to the charm and sitting on the deck to play board games to name a few. We were only disappointed that the hot tub was not running. We had so looked forward to jumping in at night after our bicycling around the islands to soothe our muscles.

If you are looking for a special place to stay while touring the Champlain Islands I would recommend the Ferry Watch Inn. Whether you stay in the suite or inside the main house you won't be disappointed.
