“Great Place To Stay!”
Reviewed September 22, 2013 via mobile

We spent a night at The Marble Mansion in conjunction with a tour on the Caldwell Belle. We found the building to be very well kept and the owners friendly. It is a great location facing the town square and exactly what you would think of when thinking of a quant Vermont B&B. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was excellent! Would highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful Inn while traveling through the area. We were so happy with our decision to stay at the Marble Mansion. Our room with attached bathroom was beautiful and spacious. We were treated like royalty. The home has so much history. The rooms were all tastefully decorated and we had so much fun looking at all the intricate details of the ceilings, floors, marble fireplaces while learning about the mansions history from the owner. We have stayed at numerous Bed and Breakfast accomodations over the years and this one tops them all. The breakfast was quite an affair. The meal was scrumptious and the dishes kept coming. We will be back someday when we travel through again. Thank you from Jeff and Cindy

Breakfast was served in the sun room overlooking the back acreage. The inn's resident feline offered up the morning entertainment as he jumped at the lower branches of a tree to scare a pigeon. The hospitality was exceptional. Sharon greeted us at the door upon our arrival. We were shown to our rooms and given a tour of the mansion. Sharon was knowledgeable about the history of the mansion and the local area. The bed was comfortable considering I have a difficult time sleeping away from home.
Overall the Inn was clean, though it showed some "wear around the edges". The porch was being renovated and some of the carpeting was worn. I enjoyed my stay very much.

What a great place. We've stayed at a few different inns in the area and this was by far the nicest.Plus its made out of marble! The rooms are beautiful and the place is tastefully decorated, not overly cutesy like so many inns. The breakfasts were great and the people there went out of their way to make us happy. I even challenged him them a gluten free, dairy free breakfast and they came through with flying colors. Everyone there is as nice as can be. I highly recommend staying there.

My hubby and I stayed here while visiting family in the area and we loved it. In fact, my husband is still talking about the breakfasts. We stay a quite a few B&Bs through the year, and by far, this was the very best spot for breakfast. Each day was different - stuffed French Toast, individual baked eggs in ramekins, sausage, bacon, egg casserole dish, cinnamon swirl coffee cake - all home made and truly delicious. The house is beautiful and the inn keepers and staff are welcoming, informational and we would stay there again. Also, there is a park directly across the street from the house with that's safe and pretty if you just want to get out.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor which had an adjoining bathroom to another room. We didn't mind sin...

I just spent a great night at the Marble Mansion Inn with my husband and three friends. Upon our arrival, Sharon gave us a tour and a historical account of the Allen family who originally built and lived in the mansion. The mansion, built in 1866, is decorated with antique furnishings and lovely elaborate chandeliers. Both Sharon and her husband Greg are charming and knowledgeable hosts. They were very helpful with all of our needs. Sharon presented a delicious breakfast, and even provided recipes for the coffee cake and egg souffle. Greg suggested a great route for the men in our group (who were biking) to take to our next destination! All in all, it was a wonderful visit!!

Room Tip: There are only stairs, so rooms on the 2nd floor are more convenient than on the 3rd. floor.

On the wall of the sunroom of the inn an artist had stenciled the phrase, to the effect of "enter as strangers, leave as friends." The quote shows up at a lot of different establishments. Here, it is true. David gave us a grand tour of the most beautiful B&B at which we have ever overnighted. His wife Sharon is a marvelous cook, and we had an amazing edible send-off. We are bikers, so a week this year and a week last year we were staying in B&Bs. This one is by far our favorite. Go and let them treat you royally. There isn't a lot to do in Fair Haven. But in the summer, visit the marble quarry in Dorset and sun on the rocks & jump into the freshwater stream...or visit the first golf course in the country. Go to North Hero and walk the causeway. Or simply sit in the park across from the Marble Mansion. This place is a real find!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room, if it's available, with a view of the park.
