We order from Pizza Hut often; the pizza is consistently good, with very good (not acidic) sauce and fresh veggies. And the pricing is so reasonable, we can both order exactly what we want - leftovers freeze well and make a great grab-and-go lunch. Unfortunately our recent experience was a complete bomb when it came to delivery, customer service and attitude.
We live 10 minutes from Pizza Hut; we both had deadlines to meet, so we called at 6:00 p.m. to have pizza delivered. The girl who answered said, "Just so you know, our delivery time right now is about an hour and a half". I said no thanks and hung up; after talking for a minute, we decided to order and go get it. I called back and a cheerful young man took the order.
Naturally, with a 90-minute wait for delivery, we expected to find either the restaurant bustling or the take-out area stacking up boxes for delivery. We saw just1 couple in the restaurant, and 4 pies ready for pick-up (2 of them were ours). When we walked in, a young woman was at a register and a young man was simply leaning against a counter. He began checking us out, but as soon as she finished, he told us she'd take care of it and wandered off, leaving us in the middle of paying our bill! He wandered over to the soda machine, got a drink, and leaned against a counter drinking it - this is why he dropped a paying customer in mid-transaction?! In the 5 minutes or so that we were there, three calls came in for delivery; all 3 failed to make an order after hearing the delivery time. When we asked the young woman what the problem was, she said, "I dunno".
A previous time, we'd scheduled delivery for 6:45 (I did it on-line hours earlier, so dinner would arrive shortly after we got home from a meeting). We'd just gotten home (about 6:10), when the pizza arrived; I asked the driver about being more than 30 minutes early and she said, "I was heading this way, so they made up your pizza and sent it along". So much for schedules!
Pizza Hut has a good product. This location needs to get its act together on delivery or stop offering it, and train its staff on customer service (and maybe on not so obviously doing nothing in slow times).
