Reviewed March 1, 2012

We have stayed at this Hampton Inn many times for vacations with events in Burlington, and the quality and value remain consistently high.
• Room: the standard king room is large enough; very clean; new comfortable bed w/good linens; flat screen tv and the room had small fridge and microwave.
• Bathroom: good size and lighting, good shower head, towels good quality, very clean overall.
• Like all Hamptons, breakfast is included and has reasonable variety. The lobby/breakfast area is being renovated which shows the hotel is being kept up to standard.
• The drive to downtown Burlington takes around 15 min. or less, depending on traffic. Currently the only two hotels in Burlington proper are much more expensive than the Hampton (usually a $40 to $50 difference) which makes this hotel compete a little more for guest business.

It is great to see multiple reviews from a regular guest and I appreciate the positive feedback even with renovations going on. We do have quite a bit happening, from the lobby to the fitness room, and this week the pool area. By the end of March we will have a fresh new look and are very excited to see the end result. Thank you for your continued patronage and hope you will be back soon to give us your opinion of the upgrades once complete.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is pretty good - clean, good breakfast, friendly staff, warm pool. Two complaints, though:

1) It's a non-smoking hotel. But on one of the 3 nights, our room was FILLED with cigarette smoke, coming from (probably) the heating vents, all night long. It was VERY strong, and made it hard to sleep. In the morning, everything we had there smelled like smoke. Front desk offered to move us to a different room, but we had our kids sleeping and decided it wasn't worth the effort. HOTEL SHOULD ENFORCE THE NON-SMOKING RULE.

2) Plumbing was old and poorly maintained. Bathroom sink and bathtub faucet handles were loose, almost falling off, and very hard to turn too. HVAC system could use an upgrade too.

(room 328, if I remember correctly)

Nice TV, fridge, and microwave in room. Great breakfast.
Old looking hotel, but they are in the middle of renovating, so probably will improve.

Thank you for your review of our hotel. I apologize for the cigarette smoke you encountered during your visit. We are working with the Hampton Brand to create a solution for enforcement of the policy. I do appreciate your comments on the issues concerning the plumbing in your room and will make certain they are addressed. I am glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise and hope you will visit with us again when our renovations are complete.

This was my second stay at this Hampton. It is located right off Interstate 89 at Exit 16. This must have been some other chain before it became a Hampton because of the layout and room styles. The lobby with fireplace is on the 3rd level where the breakfast buffet is served. They were undergoing a renovation of the lobby/fitness area but put a fitness room in another area while this is being redone. They have removed the jacuzzi ;-( but the pool is large and warm. I used my Hilton Honors points for the stay and got to choose a king room with sofa. Large flat screen tv, frig, microwave, coffee maker, desk and chair and chest of drawers with two nighttables, lots of lighting with 3 way bulbs, comfortable heating/cooling system, window that opens and nicely appointed bathroom. Only complaint were the inconsiderate guests that slam their room doors entering and leaving the room. They do recycle and containers were on each wing of each floor. Ask for a room on the fourth floor facing away from highway, really quiet. There is a steak restaurant next door but we went to an Italian restaurant nearby that was great. Convenient to airport, conference center in Essex and downtown Burlington as well as the Champlain Islands. Breakfast was the usual tea, coffee, hot cocoa, juices, scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, pastries, waffles, etc, etc. Lots of room to move around and plenty of tables for guests, not crowded like some other Hamptons. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: 4th floor away from highway

What a great review of our hotel! Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. It is nice to know the renovations have not been too intrusive so far. I apologize for the groups that were in house during your visit. We do have hockey teams and ski groups on occasion. One weekend was particularly busy recently. We do our best to keep the children in check but it can be difficult at times. I am glad that you seem to have enjoyed your stay otherwise and appreciate the great information you noted about the hotel and the area. We look forward to seeing you again after the renovations are complete, hopefully by mid-April. Thanks again for choosing the Hampton Inn Burlington!

I have to feel welcome, or I won't return, no matter how pretty it is. I travel a lot, so I tend to be choosy, but the price and location were right. (Downtown Burlington is rather pricey in my opinion.) Warm cookies and milk at night, nice breakfast in AM. Pretty standard Hampton. Easy to find. No, not new but perfectly acceptable. Clean, well lit, with good service.

Room Tip: Be aware of the unusual layout - lobby is on 3rd floor... hotel is built into a hillside.

A nice Hampton inn. we find them to be very reliable. A short easy ride(10 min) to down town Burlington. Friendly helpful staff. All room requests were met. Good / friendly breakfast. Warm cookies and Cold milk. Warm clean Pool /hot tub . Clean room, great bed, fridge /micro.Hotel had a different lay out (in a good way) built on a sloping lot, you enter lobby on 3rd level. All levels seemed equal and well done.
As my wife always says nothing is perfect so here go's: tv was a very nice Flat screen only 28 channels 3 of them were Hampton/Hilton channels. Heat was either on or off. there seemed to be no way for it to be set for cycling,so it runs steady. While this was not an issue for our stay it might be for other times of the year. The hotel is very well maintained not spanking new but well maintained. the only thing we noticed (4th floor) the doors were very scuffed while not a big deal it did distract from a other wise neat, clean hotel .We know that the Burlington area is a little pricey and that reflects at this Hampton in Colchester as well. We got a great last minute aarp week end rate but even with that it was still higher then some Hamptons we have used, including a Much newer one in Newport RI. our son and a friend were in North Conway NH the same weekend at a Hampton and paid less with out any discount.
We did enjoy our stay very much. And we will happily stay again

This was a great review of our hotel and I thank you for your comments. You are correct that our TV selection could use improvement and we are waiting on a solution to address that issue. We hope to increase both the quantity and quality of our TV selection some time in the next few months. I am glad you enjoyed your experience otherwise and I look forward to your next visit.

Just felt the need to make sure that people dont think this place is totally rundown. Stayed one weeknight recently. Had read an earlier review saying it needs some refurbishing. Sometimes people see that and think the whole place is bad. Certainly not in this case. This is a well designed hotel with a terrific staff, a convenient location and a great value. There are a few wall scrapes and furniture nicks, which are hard to get rid of. But the rugs in the rooms are clean enough for no socks and the beds are clean and dont have the big swale that means the mattress is old. That's all I ask for. I've stayed a few times at the higher priced Hilton properties in town and not always gotten that. Feel confident with staying here. Good price, good people.

Room Tip: Hotel in on hill, so front entrance is 3rd floor. Back entrance is 1st floor but no guest rooms that...

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of our property. It is nice to hear when a guest has a great stay and compares us favorably to other properties locally. We realize our hotel is older than most Hampton Inn's but we work very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We do have plans to update our lobby, fitness area and guest rooms over the next two years. I hope you will continue to stay with us and experience the changes. Thanks again for the great review and we appreciate your business!

We stay at Hampton Inns often. You can always count on nice clean rooms. While this hotel is quiet sufficient, it does not measure up to some of the other HIs we have stayed in. It was still nice, but could use some new carpet in the hallways and a little updating.

I would stay there again, I just recommend to the manager- spend more time in the rest of the hotel, the lobby is very nice but the rest needs a little updating.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our property. I am glad you found the hotel adequate, but understand your comments about the need to renovate our rooms. We are one of the older Hamptons in the region and are looking forward to many improvements scheduled in the next two years. We will be starting with our Lobby and fitness area, but have plans to update the guest rooms as well. We hope you will continue to stay with us when you are in our area and witness all of the wonderful changes we have in store. Thank you for choosing Hampton!
