Cuisines: Turkish
Description: Turkish food is a true fusion of many different cultures, a collage of different cuisines so to speak. Turkey, geo-physically located as a bridge between Europe and Asia, has been a melting pot of many civilizations since the beginning of history. Once the land of Hittites and the Greeks, it later became the home of the Turks, a nomadic peoples. Therefore, its cuisine is not only a collage of all the cultures that lived in Turkey throughout history, but also a collage of cuisines from all the lands Turks lived before settling in what was then called Asia-Minor. Today's Turkish cuisine is a fusion of Turkic, Ottoman, Greek, Persian, Arabic, Lebanese, and Armenian cooking that can be defined as a true and unique Mediterranean food experience. Turkish food, as most Mediterranean food, relies heavily on appetizers called "mezes" and especially the freshest of ingredients. Although it has many meat specialties, it is predominantly based on fresh vegetables. Therefore, it offers a perfect combination of vegetarian and meat dishes, appealing to a broad spectrum of the eating public.

Burlington's Church Street pedestrian mall is wonderful, but if you'll venture just a block south, you'll be rewarded with a wonderful meal. The Meze sampler includes haydari, hummus, babaganoush, Turkish salsa, stuffed grape leaves and lavash bread. It's a meal in itself, but is a great start to a Mediterranean meal. All the items hold their own to Greek, Israeli, Armenian, or any other cuisine that offers similar items. You like a Gyro? Try the Döner Wrap. Same thing, only better. And if the chicken kebab is any indication, they excel as a "kebab house." It's a shame I live 100 miles away and can't go regularly. Then again, if I'm trying to hold my waistline, maybe that's not such a bad thing.

We visited this restaurant and really enjoyed the food. The Turkish Meze platter was very good and the chicken kebabs were delicious. If the weather is good, try the rooftop deck, it is charming. Service was very good here.

We had the chicken kabobs which were seasoned very well and cooked perfectly. The rice was excellent- cooked thoroughly and very flavorful! The hummus was also good. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. This downtown gem is definitely a place to visit if you are in the Burlington area.

This place is a gem in BTV. The atmosphere is fantastic year round. Food is flavorful and fresh. Good size portions. The warm lavash bread is a treat. I take all my friends to this place since it is the best. Prices are economical compared to other places in Main Street.
