Great instruction gets you up to speed quickly. Then it's all about challenging yourself on various courses up the walls. The equipment they use here is easy and convenient compared to other climbing walls I've experienced. Highly recommended for a family outing, or a personal workout or challenge.

over 300 dollars for my kid to ride in a van to Bolton for hours - swim in dangerous locations, hit his head on the metal staircase, and almost fall over the second floor banister. no thank you. better summer camps out there for half the price

Petra Cliffs Climbing Center is an indoor climbing gym in Burlington, VT. It's has a great laid back atmosphere with lots of friendly climbers that are always willing to help out. There are lots of great top rope, and lead routes, as well as an extensive bouldering area.
It's a great place to spend a rainy or cold afternoon or evening, or to train extensively before heading out onto real rock. Whether you're brand new to climbing, or crushing 5.11, it's got plenty for you to do.

I like the large size of this center as well as the variety of skill levels they are able to accomodate. The staff seems devoted to making the experience challenging and enjoyable to everyone. Be prepared to leave with your fingers cramping and your forearms shaking with fatigue. Great T-shirts too!

We stopped in on New Years weekend as 2 families with 5 kids, ranging from 6 to 14. We had a great time and the staff was super helpful. They helped set us up with gear, trained everyone on safe belay tactics, and then let us rip. We spent hours there.

One other thing worth noting is was the mellow factor of other climbers. Often, rock gyms are full of twenty-something types who are so busy being "dudes" that they look down at families and make you feel uncomfortable. This place was the exact opposite - and it really made the experience great. Lots of space, lots of routes for everyone.

We'll be back!
