The history on how they found Ethan Allens cabin is very interesting. I was amazed at the floors and walls were constructed with chestnut which is no longer available. Our volunteer tour guide was very amuzing and quite the history buff. Very enjoyable experience.

We visit at least once a year and learn something new every time Guides are helpful, the piper is a neat touch and the artifacts are well-researched
Tavern and gift shop are nice too with interesting displays

We wanted to learn more about Vermont and it's history and thought visiting the Ethan Allen Homestead would be a great place to go. While small, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Our guide is a volunteer who knew a lot and is passionate about the place. We stayed an hour, which was plenty of time.

Tour led by a well-informed volunteer included a visit inside the Ethan Allen house, giving an authentic look at the way a famous person lived.

If you don't plan on hiking, this place is quite average. Call ahead to see if the Ethan Allen House is open for re-enactment. If so, it's a 4-star attraction. If not, enjoy the grounds, but if you're looking for a great place to hike and visit, go to Shelburne Farms off of Route 7. More expensive, but there's a friendly barn, there's cheesemaking, and other cool stuff. Great festival in early September.
