Maybe being from Montreal has made me spoiled about breakfast restos. On any street corner you can find many restaurants that specialize in serving only breakfast and lunch. From chains like Cora,Eggsqui,Tutty Fruity,Ben et Florentine and thousands of others mom and pop operations, lets just say breakfast in Quebec is as important as the Mtl Canadiens.I had tried to get in Penny C for a long time, but was always confronted to a massive wall of hungry patrons waiting to get in..good sign..so this time i was at the door at 9:15 and still had a 45 minute wait...This place is ranked number 2 in Burlington restos. As we waited for our table,i guess regulars arrived and were greeted with a hug and a'' you want a coffee while you wait??'' Nice touch..but offer coffee to all customers waiting not just the ones you know..anyways..we got a great table over looking the street and were greeted by a smiling waitress with hot coffee, fast and efficient. The menu is interesting with many options and twists on eggs, pancakes and most breakfast fare. The food was well prepared but served lukewarm but edible(did not want to return the plates). My eggs and biscuits were good, the gravy outstanding and the sausage fresh and well cooked.Coffee was abundant and hot.All in all,Penny Cluse is good, but is it worth a 45 minute wait??? Maybe, because of the small choice of sit down full serve breakfast restaurants available in Burlington. My quest for better is still on...

Went for Breakfast/Brunch. My husband had amazing eggs & homefries with a creamy herb sauce. I had a stacked turkey club that was REAL roast turkey-- like the kind grandma makes for Thanksgiving, turkey. Are you kidding me??? it was awesome!

Bloody Marys & beers were good too- the wait can be long- so if you can't handle it, try a week day b/c it's SO worth it!

They usually have things like pumpkin pancakes and wonderful egg dishes. They get crowded, so expect a bit of a wait. Totally worth it.

I am a breakfast fan. I think it's the best meal of the day and Penny Cluse delivers. Really quality food with some interesting twists make for a tasty start to the day. I love the Zydeco Breakfast (eggs, andouille sausage, black beans and corn muffins) but there are so many other options (gingerbread pancakes, bucket of spuds, or tofu scrambles.) These are a bit on the adventurous side (if your looking for one of the chain 2- 2- 2 breakfasts you will be disappointed). Pricing is appropriate but if you like the less expensive chains you will feel this place is pricey. Organic, local, and tasty. Enjoy

Breakfast on way back to Boston area after touring UVM. Got to have the pancakes in order to enjoy the VT maple syrup. My daughter had a French toast special. The coffee was good and dark, staff friendly. We waited about 20 minutes on a Saturday morning. Good local color as well.
