Description: Sweetwaters is an American Bistro with an unique twist on your favorite eats. For over 30 years, we've been serving fantastic cuisine with local ingredients in a family-friendly atmosphere in the heart of Burlington, on the corner of College and Church Streets on the charming Church Street Marketplace. Architecturally interesting, Sweetwaters is housed in what was the original site of the Burlington Trust Company. Built in the 1880s, the building retains its original mouldings, cornerstone, clock and architectural appointments. With a full bar, extensive menu, unique interior, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, Sweetwaters certainly has something for everybody. We serve lunch and dinner daily, with a late night menu for all you night owls out there.

“Very good food- and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

The service and food at this place were both very good- The burgers were amazing and a good size. Others in our party had Strip Steak and a steak special-both very good. The Chicken Picata was ok- but not what you expect- usually made with lemon-butter sauce with capers- Here the chicken was not boneless, and the sauce was creamy and tasted more like a gorgonzola sauce- good but not what you expect for Chicken Picatta.

Hi Travelgogo, thank you for the review, it is always appreciated. I checked on the chicken recipe with our chef- yes he was going for a twist on the recipe but we later pulled it from our menu. Some menu items work better than others. Stop by and try the new Fennel Brick Chicken: All natural chicken breast, fennel garlic rub, butternut squash and sweet potato puree, ginger-cranbeerry relish and seasonal vegetables.

“Amazing burger!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2013 via mobile

This was the only place we could get dinner and drinks on Church Street at 9 on a Tuesday night. We were greeted and seated right away in a quiet corner, which we requested. Our waiter was attentive and helpful- it was my husband's birthday and he was able to get a candle for our dessert. I had the angus burger which was so juicy and tender. The fries were delish, too. We loved the ancient look and feel of the unique building. We will go back if we are in Burlington again. I wish I got our waiter's name to give him a shout out on here.

Mary0216, thanks for choosing Sweetwaters for your husband's birthday. Truth be told, you are not alone- our burgers have quite the following! Try the kobe one of these days, you'll enjoy that one too.

“Go here first and eat before midnight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

Burlington is like the NY City of Vermont with many eateries in the Church Street Marketplace from Local to Bistros and multiple cuisines some of which are so "popular" that you wait for a table for 30 minutes or more.

Having arrived late for a business meeting the next day, I wanted a reasonable meal without being crowded into a noisy space after waiting for a table; saw the Sweetwaters specials sign and went in; excellent move. The place is nicely decorated, spacious and the food was very good. The salmon special with risotto was delicious, good portions and nicely done without being pretentious. Ample wine and beer selection. The server was professional and attentive.

Good meal in a nice place at a reasonable price. Sit in the "greenhouse" next to the bar and have a good view as well as a good meal.

“Thoroughly recommended”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

Great atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. My first night in the USA and I fancied something light and opted for the Vermont Apple and cheese salad. Light salad? It was an entire field with dressing! Delicious, generous and nicely balanced- the only time I have been defeated bythe quantity of a salad. Great position on the street terrasse watching the World go by. Relaxed and warm....Thoroughly recommended.
