“An unexpected delight, good food and great wine list”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2011

My wife and I visited Trattoria Delia to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had never been there before, but it came highly recommended by a friend. We were not disappointed! This is an upscale Italian restaurant serving farm to table food from area suppliers. The wine list is an extensive collection of Italian wines from each of the country's regions. It is sure to please. Trattoria Delia has a small bar area, that on most nights requires a reservation, and which serves only imported Italian liquor. So don't be disappointed when you can't order your favorite gin or vodka. The food was fabulous and the service was prompt and courteous, and the waiter was pleasant and very helpful in his explanation of the various menu selections. If you like snails, you must try the Lumache alla Sambuca, they are the best I've ever had! If you like Osso Bucco, you won't be disappointed either. We tried a variety of selections from appetizers and salads to pasta and entrees. We weren't disappointed with anything. The restaurant is cozy and has a warm inviting ambiance, though it does tend to get a bit crowded. It's also a bit pricey, but well worth it for the quality atmosphere service and wine selection.

“Fake Snot Appeal”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2011

Lots of restaurants have "snot appeal". Okay, put the snot where it is warranted! When my husband and I attempted to make a reservation, we were given two choices:- very early or very late. We opted for the next day at 5:00 P.M. - one of the only choices available. We thought "Wow, this place must be fantastic!"

Folks, we are not "snots", okay but we are sophisticated and have travelled all over the world. This restaurant does have lovely atmosphere but when one is offered a seating arrangement at the "BAR", this is not a romantic situation - and by the way - we have been married 42 years, so we know what "ROMANTIC" is all about, okay? Upon arriving, we were given a table that my husband, who is six foot two, could not sit at comfortably. We requested another table in order that he would be able to enjoy his meal and relax. The table switch was just a couple of feet away from the front door with bright lights shining in our faces.

I looked around the room and saw many other lovely tables that were unoccupied but we had to sit at this one, for some unreasonable explanation.

The food served was no better than a chain restauraunt. The prices, in all fairness, were not exorbitant but it is really sad when one orders a salad and must "MIX" one's own salad dressing (oil and balsamic dressing) As mentioned before, the food was no better than a "CHAIN" restaurant at its best. The waitress was very "put upon" when we asked for the cheese bowl to be left on the table and for pepper. Quite a "HUFFY" attitude, to say the least!

My husband and I spent and hour and a half at least in that restaurant and we observed many lovely tables that were empty. We are of the opinion that this place wants to present a feeling that it is totally booked when this is not the case at all.

The prices are not exorbitant but the service is poor and very unfrofessional. One could eat better with better food, service and timing at the "Olive Garden". Folks - "STAY AWAY!" In our opinion, this place is all "HYPE" and no action!

“Excellent Italian Food at Very Reasonable Prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2011

We chose Trattoria Della based upon Trip Advisor reviews and were very pleased with our choice. We always worry a bit about Italian restaurants when outside of areas with more of an Italian heritage, but we were very pleasantly surprised. They have an extensive menu with some uinque offerings. As an appetizer, I had the duck confit over eggplant with fig sauce which was excellent. My wife had the gnocchi with sausage and Vermont cream sauce as a main dish which was also excellent. Also, an extensive wine list with some very reasonably priced selections. The atmosphere was dark and cozy. We had appetizers, dinner, wine, dessert and coffee a total check including tip of $130, which I consider very reasonable given the quality.

“Great food, atmosphere and BUSY, even during the week night.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2011

Walked in on a Monday night. Didn't know anything about the restaurant, but it looked interesting. We couldn't get seated until 8:30 that evening. Since we hadn't had a meal since breakfast and it was 6:30 already, we opted for going on down the street.

On Tuesday, we called back for reservations. Dinner was great. The bread was scrumptous, wine great, salad different (prawn and white beans) and pasta fabulous. We didn't have room for dessert, but it looked good.

We would go back if we were in the area again. Just visiting the New England town for the first time!

“Don't debate nor hesitate. Just go there!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2011

We had some great meals in Burlington but this was our absolute best night out. Everything from wild boar, amazing pastas, fois gras, veal saltimbocca, wines and bread, to the desserts so fine. My panne cotta with berries was simple, but it was simplly elegant in quality and flavor. Our waiter was entertaining, friendly, helpful, and fast, but more importantly he was knowledgeable, extremely careful, and skilled. This place is the whole deal ... inventive cuisine, impeccable presentation, pleasing treatment.
