The term sansei would imply Japanese mountain vegetables, which isn't necessarily the case at San Sai. But the atmosphere is comfortable at San Sai, and the food is competent. The vegetable tempura was very nice, although the accompanying rice probably would not meet the standard in Japan. Sushi was okay, although the restaurant did not have tamago, one of our group's favorites, on the night we were there. The service was fine, although without any real Japanese feel (but of course this is Vermont, not Japan). Overall: Not the greatest, but certainly agreeable enough.
