Spent 2 hours on Gideon's sailboat with my two best friends from UVM class of 88. Had the best time!! Gideon was awesome. The lake was spectacular. Don't miss!! Made our visit complete.

To start with, we were very excited to be getting on the beautiful sailboat. It looked like we were going to have a beautiful day on Lake Champlain. (I should have known that things weren't going to be great when I saw the unimpressed expressions of the two couples that got off the boat when it docked.) We understood the need to go slowly out of the harbor, and so we waited as we inched through the water. After half an hour and being out of the harbor, Gideon told us we would motor until we could sail. We were surrounded by sailboats in full sail that were sailing around us, so we thought at any minute we would be sailing. An hour into the trip, having never raised the front sail, Gideon told us the plan was to motor close to the island and then turn around. When I mentioned that I was hoping we would actually sail, he said we could turn around right then and sail if we had time closer to the harbor. Well, we got closer to the harbor, continued to see sailboats in full sail near the harbor, yet continued to slowly motor around until we were back at the dock. This is NOT what we paid for. . . we did not pay to putter along in the water relying completely on the engine of a sailboat. I understand that sometimes the weather is out of the hands of these tour guides, but in this case there was enough wind to sail with. This was a complete waste of money. Gideon and his mate were more interested in talking with themselves than to bother trying to make this a half decent experience for us. We like to travel, have been on many tours, and like to build a friendly rapport with our guides. . . this was by far the worst experience we've had.

We had a fantastic sail on Gideon's boat. He was a pleasure and made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our ride. It was a highlight of our trip to Burlington. We highly recommend this boat versus the others as it is very intimate.

We had a wonderful mid-day sail. Gideon is knowledgeable, competent and interesting. The lake is spectacularly beautiful as are the views of the Adirondacks, Burlington and Camel's Hump. The boat is very comfortable. We look forward to returning!

We had a great time on our sunset cruise with Captain Gideon and just two other couples. There wasn't much wind, but the weather was otherwise perfect and our sail around was very peaceful. Gideon was a great host and we always felt in capable hands. He was very helpful in making sure that we knew how to find the boat, and gave good suggestions for securing a picnic dinner to bring along. A great way to see Lake Champlain!
