We've stayed here quite a few times over the past few years visiting our UVM kids. We think this is by far the best hotel in Burlington (and the prices reflect that). The rooms are pretty average size, but nicely decorated and everything has always been in good working order. There are new large flat screen TVs in the rooms. The lake views are spectacular, ever changing, and make it worth the price to stay here. The front desk staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, especially on our most recent stay this past weekend. We were checked in by Cat, who was very apologetic about a small delay due to a computer problem. We were offered delicious hot cider while we waited and it was only a few minutes. Later that evening we received a personal note from Cat under our door, thanking us for our patience and giving us coupons for free breakfast - this was a very nice touch.
The restaurant and bar at the hotel are ok, but a bit expensive and there are plenty of very good restaurants and bars nearby that we find have better atmosphere and value.
There are a few issues that the hotel should address. Almost every time we've visited, one of the two elevators in the main lobby has been out of service. This makes for very long waits and many stops when the hotel is busy - annoying and needs to be fixed ! Also the fitness center which is not large, but is reasonably well equipped and has nice lake views, is in serious need of attention. On our most recent visit, one of the two elliptical machines was out of order, as was the only stationary bike. And the TVs on both treadmills were not cooperative - one was stuck on a single channel and the other one had a black screen with wavy lines. After much tinkering with the TV and remotes I gave up, then was annoyed because the blank TV screen was blocking the view of the lake. If the hotel is going to offer a fitness room, it needs to be in much better repair than this.
Other than those issues, we were very happy with the Hilton Burlington (again), and will be returning for sure (at least until graduation 2015).
