REVIEWERS TAKE NOTE:
First of all, when i posted my review of where we stayed on Brattleboro, TripAdvisor asked for restaurant reviews, this restaurant did NOT come up until I went to the home page and then keyed in the name. Does this affect the ratings?
On to the review. My wife and I had reservations for 7.30 New Year's Eve--we were at the bar for a few minutes while a table was cleared. That's fine, no one wants to rush on New Year's Eve. The hostess kept us posted re when the table would be available.
Basically, from the time we entered until we left over 2 hours later, everything was superb--the wait staff was just right, not hovering but there when needed,
Every bit of the four course meal was off the charts, the cod fritters which seems to be cakes, a la crab cakes, not fritters, the mescalin and Caesar salads, Beef Wellington and desserts, all superb, well presented and delicious. wine and cocktails were a match for the food.
Service, as said, was not only impeccable but also fun. we both ordered Creme Brulee for dessert, and the waiter returned to tell us " there's good news and bad news. The bad news is we only have one Creme Brulee left. The good news, we do have one left." the substitute flour-less chocolate cake was easily as good as the Brulee, no loss either way.
the price was not inexpensive, but less than we paid in Boston 10 years ago for a comparable meal, and worth every penny.
