“The best.”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

What other town of 12,000 souls has a four-screen Art Deco movie theater with digital technology for blockbuster movies, independent and foreign films...and a great performance space for concerts? The Latchis Theater and the attached hotel are an anchor for downtown Brattleboro and the town is lucky to have them.

“Ancient Rome decamped to Vermont”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

There's something surreal seeing 'Argo' in a cinema decked out like a Roman temple - with the ceiling bedecked with signs of the Zodiac - in Vermont. This is a gem; original late-30s decor and run as a labour of love. the attached bar and restuarant does a mean lamb burger that lives up to the fierce Vermont pride in local ingredients that are fresh and flavoursome. Friendly and helpful service - looks like alot of locals enjoy this place - as they should. Plenty of parking close by; as the guides say Brattleboro has the feel of a college town - and this cinema just adds to the unique feel.

“Flashback to an earlier era”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

This unique theater at the bottom of the hill near the bridge to New Hampshire has been around for ages - it used to be a performing arts theater in the olden days and has none of the modern amenities, which sometimes is a very cool thing. The popcorn is still cheap and unfortunately it is now the only game in town as far as movie theaters go - so get there early to claim a seat. It has old velvet curtains and pocket balconies where VIP's used to sit during performances - I believe there are four theaters. It definitely takes you back in time. Fun night out - parking lot behind the theater and plenty of places to go for a drink afterwards.

“Typical small town theatre”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

Seats were good, sound was a bit off, cheap tickets and nice people. It is definitely a Brattleboro land mark.

“Can't wait til the new seats come!”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

Work-in-progress Art Nouveau/Deco style movie theatre, being gradually renovated. Shows big and small films, and serves good popcorn.
