We stayed about 30 miles away from Bennington, but found a way to be there for mealtimes 3 times during our vacation. The food is delicious. The menu has many traditional favorites, a respectable number of vegetarian entrees, and to-die-for homemade pies, donuts the size of a small plate, and muffins. My favorite meal was my cornbread french toast. My sister loved the apple omelet. Many creative menu items. We were impressed that they served homemade raspberry preserves with toast. Even the salad dressings are homemade. The service is very good, and the prices are very reasonable. We found it to have charming atmosphere--but face it, it is an old dining car. It is a small place with only 6 booths and about 15 counter spaces. There was usually a tiny wait--no more than 10-20 minutes during peak times. Very good local eatery that would always be my first choice if I lived in the area.
