“A Great Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

The hotel is an old, renovation-while-in-use Victorian house. It only has three rooms for guests and ours was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The hosts are a young couple who seem to really have their hearts in making this an enjoyable experience.

It is off-beat and may not be for everyone but we enjoyed it very much. For example, most such establishments bill themselves as Bed and Breakfast. In a break from tradition, this offers no breakfast but instead offers free martinis in the evening. On Friday and Saturday nights, the martini bar is open to the public which makes for pretty lively local entertainment. They close at a reasonable hour so it doesn't result in a detriment to a good rest on the comfortable bed.

The location is excellent, within walking distance of everything in this small but weird town. Our host recommended a restaurant which was spot on.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is not so stuffy that they would be happier in a Holiday Inn. If/when we return to Bennington we will stay here.

I can't say enough good things about this beautiful inn. There was only one review when I booked, so I arrived with some trepidation, but I didn't have to worry. The inn is impeccably renovated and decorated. The owners have managed to maintain the old charm (woodwork, fireplaces, old cupboards, etc....) while unobtrusively modernizing (flat screen mounted to the wall and decent wifi). Instead of an included breakfast, you are entitled to martinis and dessert which suited me even better. I highly recommend the salted caramel martini--comes with a spoon to get the last bit of goodness out of the glass!

The location is walking distance to restaurants and galleries in Bennington and about a 40 min drive to Mt Snow. If that's a little far, it's a great place to stay while heading from the NY thruway to the resorts.

John and Lisa leave you to your own devices which I loved. I often find inn owners a bit too "involved". I'm sure if you wanted to engage them more you could. The only other thing to mention as in the previous review is that the inn is open to the public in the evenings which could potentially be noisy (the rooms are all on the first floor off the common areas), but I was there on a Sat night and it was very quiet. Book this inn. You will love it!

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms and they were all gorgeous with fireplaces and windows.

We decided to visit our son for Thanksgiving and he gave us a few names for places to stay close to his house. We did no special research but were pleasantly surprised. The B&B is right in the Main Street, a very large Victorian. You enter into large rooms furnished with comfortable, welcoming furniture. The innkeeper was friendly and made us feel welcome, we were offered a glass of wine or beer and familiarized with the room in which we were staying. The innkeepers are non-invasive, meaning we felt like we were In our own home. The room was clean and well appointed with comfortable furniture.
I should mention that this inn becomes a martini/dessert bar on weekends. We look forward to staying again and enjoying the social component of this pleasant B&B.
