Description: The Madison family has deep roots in the Bennington, Vermont. As locals growing up and living in the area, the Madison's have deep ties to the community and in the early 1990's the family decided to purchase what was then a burned out storefront in Bennington's historic downtown, and convert it into the area's first brew pub. "My brother Mark was part of the inspiration" says co-owner Mel Madison. "He become passionate about brewing beer as a hobby... And that let us to the idea of starting a brew pub." From those humble beginnings, the brewery has developed six regular brews plus a seasonal brew. To complement the brewing is the lunch and dinner offerings as well as Madison's own home-made chips - a favorite at the bar or anyplace. Now into its second decade of operation, the brew pub has become a Bennington fixture and a favorite amongst the locals. We encourage you to stop in and discover for yourself everything Madison's Brewing Company has to offer!

The beers here are very good. They are smooth and rich with flavor. We are looking forward to going back so we can sample the ones we did not have on this trip. The food was also very good. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the toppings were a perfect match. We were amazed that a burger with cheese, onions and bacon on it was not greasy. Usually pub like places have good burgers but they are greasy, these were not. Probably one of the best burgers we have tried anywhere! If you like onion rings you should get some too, they are the bigger thicker ones that hold just a little bit of the grease in them.
The only reason we did not give 5 stars is the service was not the greatest. Our server was just a little slow and really did not have much personality. However, the young man that was the food runner was very excited about his job and very friendly. We will be back and have already recommended others go here.

An interesting assortment of people - typical rugged Vermont men with beards and tourists come together in this brew pub/Restuarant. A very extensive beer selection, including several flights of beer that one can try. We shared an eggplant provencal, with onion rings and tabouli on the side - it was excellent! I'll be sure to stop in again, when I'm in Bennington!

I stopped in for dinner while on a business trip. Micro-brews are the big thing in Vermont, and this doesn't disappoint. Beer was excellent. Burgers were about as good as you can get for bar food; cooked properly and properly seasoned.

The restaurant could have used one or two more people on staff working though. Took a while to get my order in and it was clear I wasn't the only one waiting. It appeared the manager was also working the bar; maybe hire a full time bartender?

Went twice and each time enjoyed good brews and attractive and delicious food. Our visits were on Saturday night and there was a wait but it moved very efficiently. Great staff!
