Description: The Madison family has deep roots in the Bennington, Vermont. As locals growing up and living in the area, the Madison's have deep ties to the community and in the early 1990's the family decided to purchase what was then a burned out storefront in Bennington's historic downtown, and convert it into the area's first brew pub. "My brother Mark was part of the inspiration" says co-owner Mel Madison. "He become passionate about brewing beer as a hobby... And that let us to the idea of starting a brew pub." From those humble beginnings, the brewery has developed six regular brews plus a seasonal brew. To complement the brewing is the lunch and dinner offerings as well as Madison's own home-made chips - a favorite at the bar or anyplace. Now into its second decade of operation, the brew pub has become a Bennington fixture and a favorite amongst the locals. We encourage you to stop in and discover for yourself everything Madison's Brewing Company has to offer!

We stumbled upon the Madison and thank heavens we did. Located in town, this is a locals place and a place where lucky tourists to the area just might find. The restaurant is bustling but at 8 PM we were seated right away. Besides the local brew (excellent) we had lite fare. I had the chile bowl and a caesar salad. My companion had a salad with crispy chicken strips on top with chipotle ranch dressing. WOWzer, the salad was hot - we thought the chicken the culprit but it was chipotle ranch dressing. For those who like it HOT this is your salad. But we do recommend the food. We saw other tasty orders passing by that we could have ordered. Being later in the evening we stuck with lite fare. The prices are reasonable and you get the small town Main street ambiance. The Madison is a winner and if we are back in the area (visiting the Hemmings museum) we would definately stop in.

This place was recommended by a local shopkeeper when I asked for suggestions and it was a good choice. I had the Vermont chicken which was excellent and my companion had tortellini alfredo with grilled shrimp that he said was delicious. The waitress was very friendly. I inquired about buying a 6-pack of their beer to take home but they only sold it in a large container equivalent to 4 beers. There is parking in the rear or on the street in front. Dinner menu starts at 4:00.

Busiest place in town the night we were there. Wife had bangers & mash, very good, and I had the Dublin Grill - even better! Wines by the glass were nice, a Bonaterra Chard & 14 Hand Cab Sav. Bought a sharp tee shirt, too. Server was friendly and attentive. Would return.

On our way out of Vermont, we stopped at this restaurant like we always do. Girlfriend got the hot open turkey sandwich with gravy and fries. I got the pastrami reuben. We skipped the drinks. Food was out and hot in seven minutes. Portions were excellent and the staff was friendly. They have a nice pub menu with many choices. Stop in, you won't be disappointed unless you're very picky.

The best place to eat in town without breaking the bank. Good beer and range of other drinks and nice home cooked menus
