We had breakfast here after staying in the nearby motel. The food was good and the portions plentiful, but we felt that the place could have been a little cleaner and brighter - it felt a little fuggy and as though it could do with a good scrub! Hence the poor review.

The food is very basic, but acceptable. However, the service was virtually nonexistent as we felt we were being totally ignored from entry, to ordering, to the basics such as having our coffee cups refilled. Even while paying (they take cash only) the waitress said nothing to us and continued her conversation with another employee. Not a way to be treated!

We stopped here for lunch after leaving the Knotty Pine Motel. The menu is small but everything on it appears good and homemade. I had the Egg Salad and homemade soup. Spectacular. I have raves it was sooooo good. My wife had an omelette and was more than satisfied. Stop here if your in Bennington and want a light meal at a great price.

I was traveling through the area with my family, we stayed at a nearby motel. We decided to stop by the Northside diner to get breakfast. we were greated at the door, and told we can sit anywhere. There was counter seating and diningroom seating. It was a busy morning. We sat in the diningroom and the waitress came right over and asked what we would like for drinks. we all ordered our food, ( there were 5 of us) the food was promptly brought out, Oh it tasted so good, the Northsider omlete is my recommendation. We had refills on our coffee after we were done eatting. so we sat there for some time after we ate. The waitress had helped us with site seeing and directions. It was all very helpful. Very friendly atmosphere, clean, good food, great parking, great location. In a couple of months we will be coming back to the area and we WILL be coming back, maybe for lunch this time.

I've been to this diner several times, each time worse than the last. Last time was the final time:: they advertize an all you can eat fried fish special on Friday nights. The first plate was very good, a nice large piece of haddock. fried to perfection . We thought we were in for a real treat. WRONG! whan we requested seconds, the waitress came around with a plate of tiny square fish-stick like pieces, obviously straight from a freezer. Just terrible and of course, they don't tell you that before you order. Other meals on previous occasions were below-par. Such a shame as they are in a prime location and whenever you drive by, there are hardly any cars in the lot. Kinda tells you something. I wish a good restaurant would take that place over.....it's a goldmine.
