We wanted to get some locally grown/produced items so stopped in at the Apple Barn. What a treat! We enjoyed the yummy apple donuts, as well as apple and raspberry sticks (especially the latter). Fresh apples were also available, harvested from the owner's orchards just down the road! Prices for basic souvenirs are competitive, and the maple syrup is actually less expensive than other Vermont retailers!

The owner is very personable and enjoyable to visit with. She will also do all she can to accommodate your needs (including shipping items for you)!

Be sure to stop in and enjoy The Apple Barn while driving in southern Vermont!

We made a quick stop for coffee on our way out of Bennington...it was a little off the beaten path for us since we were headed in the opposite direction, but we were glad we did. As others report, the bakery has plenty of goodies to offer... It's a pleasant place, good customer service, etc. I particularly enjoyed some of the artwork--framed ads clearly drawn by local school children. This is a shop that maintains a "local" feel--you can sense it's an important part of the community. We did shop but didn't purchase much... while there is a "homey" sense, there is also some "tourist" pricing. If we had been in the area longer, we'd have probably returned a time or two to try other selections such as the ice cream.

We stopped here while on a Caravan tour and had a tour of the orchards followed by apple pie and ice cream. The owner was so friendly and the apple pie was the best I ever tasted! A big plus is you can buy Vermont Maple syrup and have it shipped home. If you are in the Bennington area be sure to stop.

I love ice cream. The maple soft serve at the Apple Barn is not only worth stopping for but worth a detour. The Apple Barn is full of local foods to buy (cider, syrup, cheese) and has a lovely bakery and ice cream section. Lots of souvenirs if you're into that. I stopped for an ice cream cone and it was delicious. The view of the strawberry fields was a nice addition.

We made a quick stop here for some doughnuts and cider. It’s too bad we didn’t have more time, because there’s a whole lot more to this place than doughnuts and cider! The cinnamon sugar doughnuts were warm and fresh, and the cider was piping hot. It was a little strong for my Mid-Western tastes, but after trying other New England ciders, I think it is the norm here.
