The cemetary requires that monuments be made of Vermont granite, and (apparently) encourages originality. One of my favorites was actually a pair of four-sided pyramids with writing on the four faces of each ("see side 3 of my wife's stone for a description of heaven"). Everything from a biplane to a car on a pedestal to a cube balanced on its point. The inscriptions are moving, from the beloved wife and mother to the young life cut off too soon. I came away feeling as though I had been able to share some of the personalities who are buried there.

A welcome center guy told us about this cemetery. Since it is in the town with a huge granite quarry, all the stones are made here. The intricate and very creative designs were unbelievable.
It was well kept and it had a serene air of peace. I kept saying, " Over there, look at that one!"

Strange to say you visited a cemetery on your holiday! However this was special. The granite monuments were quite simply breath taking and the whole place had an air of peace and tranquillity. It was quite simply a wonderful experience.

This is not a "destination" place. Interesting... yes. Worth a drive thru, yes, if you are in the area. There is much hype and comment. It's a cemetery. A nice one. Go with the thought of experiencing it, and moving on, you won't be disappointed. If it's your destination, you might feel a little underwhelmed....

The tombstones here are simply amazing! There are several that were made by the craftsman themselves for themselves while they worked at the quarry. Some of the more interesting stones were of a car, basketball and of course there were many angels and statues. The workmanship was simply amazing.
