Hello,

I do apologize that your stay with us was not what you were expecting. None of the issues that were described were reported to us, otherwise we would have made very effort to help you out even up to compensating you for your stay. I apologize for the view, we are aware that we are a full service hotel in a location that is going through a re-development phase. We hope that in the future those locations nearby are no longer an eye sore for our guests.

This is a pretty new hotel, and very nice. Very friendly staff, good facilities, good food. The room was quite comfortable, although the light switches were so modernistic that it was hard to make them work correctly.

The surrounding area is mixed. Some modern shops and eateries, some run down not so nice places.

Hello,

Thank you for your kind remarks on our behalf, we really do strive to make a great experience for all of our guests. We opened our doors on January 14th of this year as the newest full service hotel in Utah.

We do recognize the issues that we have with our lights and have put procedures into place to better inform our guests about this system. The city and us are working to bring a new level of atmosphere to the area and hope that through future projects the area will become the new city central.

Thank you again for your review!

This hotel has the 'new' Embassy style, which has an eclectic, eastern feel with a unique vibe for a hotel. The room was spacious enough and contains a few extra electronic goodies you don't get in some of the other hotels. The staff are professional and eager to attend to the guests.

The famous breakfast and happy hour make a stay at Embassy particularly enjoyable. The only downside here was the lack of a hotel-airport shuttle.

I traveled from California to West Valley City, UT to visit my son and his family. We read about this new Embassy that opened in West Valley so I decided to check it out. The hotel was located about a mile from my family and true to Embassy style was very comfortable. It is smaller than some Embassy's I have stayed in but very nice just the same. I loved the room and my family came up to visit and we watched movies and everyone was very comfortable....there was plenty of room for everyone. The breakfast was not as elaborate as the hotel was much smaller but very adequate. They had a great restaurant with great food and drinks....although if you are not familiar with Utah laws you cannot order a glass of wine or an alcoholic drink. You have to order food with your drink and the bartender can't make or pour your drink in front of you...they have to go to another part of the restaurant behind a wall....not used to that being from California.

So whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, you cannot go wrong with the Embassy Suites here in West Valley -- which is 15 mins from the airport and 15 mins from downtown.

The hotel must have been recently renovated because it has a great lobby, an onsite restaurant and the rooms are amazing for this property category. Beautiful dark woods, cool carpet, two large, flat screen TV, modern sliding doors to the bathroom etc. Microwave and a small fridge. The breakfast room is a little tight from a seating perspective but they have a great selection for offering a comp meal. I got a rate of $149 and the value for this when you consider free breakfast, WIFI and HBO its the place to stay.

We usually stay in SLC and got a deal on the web. At the price $75 per night inc tax we were happy. Carmen the day manager is friendly, effective, helpful and a really nice girl. Some of the Housekeeping staff are great, and the ladies at breakfast are also friendly. It's a new place though and you get the sense that everyone's still figuring it out.

The Suite size to us is big - same size as the Hilton Garden Inn suites but with the added benefit of much higher ceilings. Bed is very comfortable despite the nylon sheets. Great sleep. AC/heat is easy to regulate. Totally dark due to blackout curtains - really great. Our side cabinet had two broken handles for the drawers which did not get repaired during our stay. These units are new. Sofas are plastic-y but comfortable. The kitchenette has a fridge & microwave and a tea/coffee maker.

There's only one bin in the suite - in the bathroom. Nothing in the bedroom, nothing under the sink, nothing near the office desk. It's just one thing that makes it feel as if they haven't quite got the hang of running a hotel yet. Same with the cooked breakfast (average but fine) served in a room without any art or decoration on the walls. It looks a bit bare and bleak - as if they forgot to make it feel comfy.

The shower is decorated with tiles that feel really good under the foot. Lighting is poor in the bathroom overall - just one light for the bathroom with nothing over the shower or WC. That one probably can't be fixed without a reasonable investment so probably won't change - but it's a strange one to overlook.

West Valley City is 15 mins on the freeway from SLC and 10 from the airport. Getting on and off the ramps at 35th South (the address) here feels absolutely dangerous - like Russian roulette with cars. Even once you know it well there are crazy criss-cross feeder lanes so that cars come into the freeway while you are heading off it a few yards later. If it's not an accident blackspot it is a miracle.

We had heard it's a sketchy area and so were surprised by no CCTV in the car park.

There's a decent Mexican Seafood restaurant round the corner - Mariscos Las Islitas - which also has two other branches in CA and in Vegas. The mall is useful - though there's no CVS/Wallgreens and Starbucks is around the corner.

The Embassy Suite Salt Lake is a brand new location, just opening earlier this year. The front desk staff is still a little green, not offering the normal Hilton recognition of HH status and freebies like a bottle of water that normally are offered, but they were very courteous and nice nonetheless. Unlike the cookie cutter Embassy Suites, the lack of the open atrium is a pleasant surprise and makes the hotel much quieter than most. The rooms are very clean. The upper floors have a nice view of the mountains. The rooms are modern and maintain the “two” room area feature but not a true separate room with doors, so noise from the living area may be an issue if traveling with family. The bathroom was large and upscale. The full size refrigerator and microwave is great for extended stays. The typical Embassy Suites is offered in a smaller than normal dining area. They seem to stop making omelets sooner than most locations I am familiar with so make sure you arrive early if you want a cooked to order breakfast. There is an onsite Shula’s restaurant if you don’t feel like going out. The hotel is near a shopping area but not a great selection of restaurants. You are better off going downtown, which offers a very nice array of selections. This hotel is very nice addition to the Hilton brand in Salt Lake.

Room Tip: Hi floor have nice views, King Suite is nice, but two bed suites are larger.
