This drive is absolutely beautiful any time. We had the added beauty of the Fall leaves to enjoy in addition to the year-round splendor of the rugged mountain views. You can see a huge fault line and look over Flaming Gorge. We saw deer, mountain sheep, wild turkeys, a huge hawk and brilliant red kokanee salmon spawning in the creek, all up close and personal. You can picnic and camp. It wasn't crowded at all. There's no entrance fee. You have nothing to lose coming here except your boredom. This is one of the most majestic places I have ever been, and I have travelled many places around the world.

“We Loved this Scenic Drive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

This scenic drive through Sheep Creek Canyon is wonderful! There are many photo ops and places for a picnic. Be sure to include the informative nature trail just across the highway from the north entrance to the canyon. Both are dog friendly.

“Wow!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

I drove this loop as a day trip. Wow! It was so worth the 4 hours just to get there. It is 13 miles long but I spent about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. So many photo opportunities! It was the end of the season but I was still surprised on the lack of traffic on a Saturday. One of the best parts was the bright red salmon spawning at the North entrance in Sheep Creek. Don't miss this if you are (or aren't) in the area.
